to start Basegame, Anthology or Platinum?
This game ain't cheap in it's base and the bundles are expensive even more. How do these DLC's work? As in a game as Dead by Daylight that you will face those nations from DLC's but you can't play them yourself? I see many nations in DLC's i doubt I will ever be in the mood to play as them. Or the DLC's have other specific things? I won't be able to build specific DLC wonders or something like that?

And if you do recommend bundles then Anthology or Platinum?

I would recommend putting the game on your wishlist. It regularly goes on deep sales. Which bundle you want depends on how much content you want. Anthology is everything, Platinum is everything but the last run of DLC.

The game primarily works based on rulesets. You can only use or see content introduced in the Rise and Fall expansion if you select its ruleset or Gathering Storm's. The Gathering Storm ruleset includes all gameplay mechanics. The smaller civ and wonder packs can be used with any ruleset.

For example, if you wanted to play as or against the Inca which were introduced in Gathering Storm, you would have to create a game with the Gathering Storm ruleset. Likewise, if you wanted to play as or against the Ottomans, a civ introduced in the Rise and Fall expansion, you would need to create a game using either the Rise and Fall or Gathering Storm ruleset. If you wanted to play as or against Norway, a civ introduced in a smaller civ pack, you can create a game however you want and still see them as they were not introduced in a major expansion.

Ty! Well I see now several stores sell Steam keys Anthology for under $20 so that makes it less an issue waiting for a sale.

I admit I don't know anything about rulesets. It's seems to be an different game I once played. I will need to explore a lot then.

I played a Civilization many years ago and remembered your tribe didn't matter much. Also it was just some random generated world. I remember I was puzzled why I would build a lighthouse in the middle of a continent far away from the coast until I finally understood the buffs WW gave. I was expecting DLC's would unlock specific stuff. I guess i can push that away and try to understand rulesets :HappySally:

But a quick question is it possible to just start pre-stone age and evolve into space like the original? Possible meeting every tribe of the DLC's? Or the game just isn't like that anymore?

if you enjoy complexity and depth in strategy game, grab at least platinum. The first 2 expansions brought some major game systems. People coming from civ 5 (with expansions) felt like civ 6 base game lacked in that regards for example.

Latest DLCs added some content, mainly new civs which are fun to play, but nothing so game changing as governors or weather effects for example.

You can start in any time period from 4000BC on. Never mind that the 1st cites start at a four thousand years earlier and you have to develop archery and spears never mind that mind that bows and atlatls first show up around 35k years ago and spears go back even further.

I don't mind  Off all possible timelines our world is the road I don't want to take. And about spears maybe the Britney upgrade wasn't that of an improvement.

If you can get the anthology for under $20, I would get it.
