My Games Folder Empty
I did a clean install. Again. My Civ6 folder in MyGames is empty. I can't save anything, graphics, games, etc. Any ideas on why this is happening

Probably because your Windows account does NOT have the rights to make changes in Documents. Does it work if you set the Civ executable (not the launcher) to run in administrator mode?

Edit: Fixed typo

Where do I find that (civ executable and what's it called). I had an earlier problem with admin rights for documents yesterday. Fixed that. tried clean install today. Empty folder. 3 days of fixing problems since GS and Win 10 update

[steam folder]\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam

"CivilizationVI.exe" for dx11

"CivilizationVI_DX12.exe" for dx12

Right click, properties. Check correct box.

Thanks, I'll try that

Didn't work. Can't save anything, folder still empty. Really pissing me off.

Okay. If you have anti virus, turn it off. This includes windows defender.

I've tried that too. Not helping. Something is corrupted in my Civ 6 My games folder I think. I restored the folder from the 16th. When I exit Civ 6 it keeps running. I can't save. Possibly a mod screwed something up. I had about 25 mods, was working until I had windows update and display driver error. Then two days of fixes. What a mess

Different and longer standing issue, that is unrelated... unless you game cannot update the cloud save files on exit, and restores an empty folder on launch. But you say you can't save, so I am assuming this isn't the issue.

That you HAD it working, and it does not work now points in that direction, yes, that is a mod issue.

I am on 7 so this might not be entirely accurate folder paths, but try anyway.

Uninstall.

Exit Steam.

Go to [drive]:\Users\[user name]\Documents\my games\
- Delete the Sid Meier's Civilization VI folder.

Go to [Steam Folder]\steamapps\common\
- Delete the Sid Meier's Civilization VI folder.

All mods content and all files should be gone now.

Start Steam. Reinstall. Start game. Exit from main menu. Verify files.

See if that works now.

That should be a clean install.

I'll try it. I can save to Cloud. Just can't save to My Games. Video changes, mod changes or save games don't go to My Games\Civ6.

Okay, so if the cloud is working, then that possibilty is rejected. Progess. Maybe not much right now, but a little still helps. Post back with your findings.

Uninstalled game. Removed all registry entries. Restarted computer. Open Steam with Run as Admin. Reinstalled game. No folder present in My Games for CIV 6 yet. Restarted computer. Decided to check integrity of files before starting game for first time. 3 missing files, I haven't even run the game yet. I don't think those 3 files have ever gotten installed (at least 10-15 attempts) 3 files "installed" so I decide to immediately check integrity again before doing anything. WOW. 3 files missing. I haven't even launched the game. I could probably reinstall those 3 files all night. I'm either going to try and launch the game or throw the laptop across the room. Not sure yet.

Didn't throw laptop. DX11, Run as Admin. Game loaded. I exited right away. Still no Civ 6 folder in My Games. Did notice that Civ6 stopped running. It usually keeps running and Steam need sto be exited to stop the game. Going to launch again and try to save.

Sounds like a permissions issue. Go to both civ 6 folder locations, in steam and in your "my games" folder. right click on the civ 6 folder and go to properties. Go to the security tab and hit edit. Then click on add. in the box under "enter the object names to be selected" type the name everyone. Then click check name. Hit ok. Then make sure everyone is highlighted at the top of the screen and select the checkbox for full control. Hit ok. Like I said, do it in both folder locations

The 3 missing files are only relevant on the first verification. Once you get in game, they change, but that does not cause problems. If you have verified them once, that is enough.

Edit: Also what he said ^^^^

The problem is, no Civ 6 folder gets created in MyGames.
