Jets are hard counters to death robots

Had a game last night where a friend fended off multiple waves of the new mech unit with jets. The jets had no upgrades and were 2-shotting the mechs with the anti-air upgrades, meaning he had more or less hard stopped the push.

I don't know if this is some weird balance decision or a ♥♥♥♥ up in the math for the anti-air upgrade, but death mechs were being touted as these super units that can (and still do) stomp through pretty much every late-game unit barring another mech, but a single jet can practically stop it entirely.

Can you make the GDR's into Armies or Corps? maybe that would help

No, and they don't earn promotions either. But future era unlocks upgrades. I would not be surprised if one of them was anti-air related. In ant case the GDR is formidable, but isn't a can do everything steamroller. They still need support.

The anti-air upgrade supposedly gives them +100 anti-air support, but even with the mobile SAMs he was pushing during the later half of the fight, the mechs were still being destroyed by the jets in the usual 2 hits. We're under the assumption currently that someone may of screwed the math on the anti-air upgrade and it's actually taking away anti-air, since it was taking 50+ damage an attack.

It should be noted I was also hitting the mechs with army rocket artillery with land unit damage promotions and was still only doing around 7-10 damage a hit.

In the dev livestream where they showcased the GDR, one of the first things that they did was take air superiority. Perhaps this is why they did that.

Glad they are. Almost got rekt by Russia when they declared war and deployed all their death robots, lost most of my army until I started using my 2 jets and 1 bomber to kill those damn things.

I wonder if those jets had any promotions because there is 1 that gives +17 vs Land units except Cavalry.
