Getting a Large scale view of the Map

Is there any way to expand the mini map of the whole World in the corner of the screen into a large map that fills the screen ? (I have a 1920 by 1080 monitor and a N Vidia Geforce 960 video graphics card and Windows 10). This has been possible in at least some other games, such as Alpha Centauri. This would be great for taking a screenshot of your game, it's map, and current status.

Check out a mod on the workshop called Free Cam, it lets you zoom really close or really far and tilt it how you like

Exactly what you describe isn't possible (without mods, I haven't researched that), but you can switch to strategic view, which maybe helps you in the right direction.
Default hotkey to switch is '='.

You can make the Mini Map bigger (about twice) and have more Zoom levels, but I would still like to have the Mini Map cover the entire screen (or almost so) to get the big picture and take screen shots.
