Domination Late game city count?
sooo, i am new to civ 6 and i usually play on immortal and have been mastering early/mid game. Now that i am getting to late i almost never finish. it is turning into city management.

I am wondering if i am just capturing to many cities? i play continents and basically just wipe out everything on my starting continent and capture all those cities. should i just raze them all and only keep my main 6-8 cities? i am probally sitting on like 15-20 aaand its def kidna boring. i jsut want to war and i spend more time scrolling through build options.

So i guess my question is how many cities is enough to keep up on tech for immortal/diety settings and when do u usually want to stop capturing and just raze cities?

For me, It depends on the size of the game (number of other Civs and size of map). If using a standard size map, then i normally stop trying to expand after 10 or 12 cities. That is certainly enough to build tech. If playing Rise and Fall, it might be difficult to maintain too many conquered city states due to loyalty (or lack of it).

Another side question. Do you just raze everything but capitals then when going for domination? And would those 10-12 include capital cities?

I play for domination victories on Island Plates maps using the base game (no R&F) and usually start my global conquest when I get battleships. So most of the cities I capture are fairly well developed and quickly become assets to my empire. I raze very few cities, mainly because if you leave space an AI civ will plop a settler down if they can.

Towards the end I can have over 40 cities and 30 trade routes all regularly needing orders. The trade routes are fairly easy, just repeat route and for the cities I usually want to keep the size down so set them to prioritise production and build whatever buildings are left for existing districts or to create and fill entertainment districts then move to projects that produce gold. It is a bit tiresome but I have it down to a routine and it doesn't get in the way too much.

I really miss having a production queue and being able to see the demographics.

yeah haha me 2 :steamsad: and so i was reading some other posts and i kinda figured that it all boils down to however many cities you care to manage. get to around the 12 city number and after that its up to if you want to deal with city development on that scale or just finish your invasions and wipe the board

I raze but keep strategic located cities and you don't have a choice but to keep AI's capitals.
