gonna play as Nubia, first time, maybe I'll wait for a later game to try for the 25th
I remember getting this achievement by starting a game where we were 3 players. Me (Nubia), Egypt and Aztecs. I let them fight between the 2, and Aztecs did conquer Egypt. Then, it's a matter of waiting to unlock the proper technologies (for the casus belli), and going for the liberation. I was on setller mode, no barbarians, no city-states, on a small map. Aztecs were close to Egypt and they had no barbarians to fight or city-states to conquer, they went for Egypt pretty fast.
No idea if it's gonna work! Too bad they allied together against you. Mind you, I did this achievement before the latest patches, maybe the AI is programmed more aggressively than it used to be.
Taking Abalister's advice, I started the game on Prince, on a Duel, Pangea map with no barbarians or city states. I also started in the Renaissance era so I wouldn't have to play through the older ages. Part way through the game, both Egypt and Sumeria allied against me. It didn't last long and they didn't accomplish anything. After they wanted peace, I allied with Sumeria, declared war on Egypt, and bombarded Ra-Kedet until it had no health. Sumeria then waltzed in and took the city (I could easily have taken it but I waited until Sumeria did). I then made peace and eventually allied with Egypt. Sumeria gradually grew displeased with me (we'd been spying on each other) and, after denouncing Gilgamesh, I declared a war of liberation and took back Ra-Kedet to get the achievement.
If you are alies with Egypt, and someone declares war on them (and takes their capital), you will auto-join the war, but the achievement requires a war of liberation, so if this happens and you liberate the city, that is not good enough.
The important part is to build up a friendship with Egypt but NOT become allies with them until they are attacked by a foe with a chance to take their capital. Once they are attacked, it is then safe to become allies with them, but best to "ally" when you are prepared to strike in case the ally status expires before you are ready.
It is also worth noting that a war of liberation requires the usual denouncement period, so thats helpful to keep in mind too.
I'm not sure if its required for Egypt to have a surviving city, but I made it a point to have open borders and surround one of their cities with builders to help protect it (cheesy, yes, but it can be helpful to do at times).
The hard parts were getting Egypt to be friendly enough to be an ally, and getting someoen stronger to attack them without me getting involved (and thus spoiling my favorable status with Egypt), and of course getting both in the same game is even harder and why it took me many attempts even after understanding what I needed to do. For me, having Egypt trigger an emergency (rise and fall expansion) helped set things in motion for my success.
