Dams
Have you also lost floodplains and the ability to build dams on official earth maps?

Yep. I recently played on huge TSE in N.A. Could not build on either the Misissippi or the Colorado rivers although the conditions are met.

yes and same in old map where condition was good to build dam, now condition aren't, don't understand why the condition to build a dame isn't : food plain adjacent to river (and one dam per river) only, no more.

I am still seeing this problem now, in April 2022 (so about a year).
Game expansion: Gathering Storm
Map: TSE Huge
Playing as Babylon, cannot build any dam anywhere on the Tigris-Euphrates river system or the Nile, well into the modern era. Is it too much to ask for my own Aswan Dam to go with my Suez (Panama) Canal?

Floodplains on Earth maps were never designed to flood, thus dams were never programmed to work with them. If you want to build dams, you will have to play a random map.

True start medditerranean lets you build dams,

The early True Start Maps (Europe, Earth, Earth Huge) were made before Gathering Storm introduced flooding mechanics and Dams, thus they are not programmed with those aspects in mind, and you will get no environmental changes on those maps (i.e flooding, ice caps melting, sea level rise).

TSL Mediterranean which was made with GS in mind does allow for flooding, dams, etc.
