Which of the 2 True Earth maps are you using? One starts all civs. at thier true start locations.

I have the same problem, huge earth with "random spawn" (not the true start locations) spawns me always in the same place :D no matter if I restart or even create a new game, always same place.

It might be because of your civ's spawn preferences on a fixed map.

How are you "starting in the same place"? It sounds like you may be using the same seed so that you get the same map, but Canada would have a strong bias for tundra. If the game only picks out one Tundra start spot, then probably is locking the slot for Canada. If you are just playing a random map, can you confirm you're actually starting on the same map?

Or do you mean you are using like one of the set map, like the Huge Earth map. You'll certainly be in the tundra then, but would think Scandinavia, Russia and Siberia would be equal start areas.

This happens to me as well. Confusing.

Isn't it all one seed on that map?

I am using the Earth Huge map, not the true start location one.

Well at first i used the "restart game" option, and in other maps i usually spawn in a different map/location, so i expect the restart game option randomizes the seed right? and i also tried to recreate the game to make sure that the seed is different and i still spawned at the exact same spot. i was able to recognize it was exactly same because the luxury/bonus resources were the same ones and at the same spots as well, and other geographical features as well.

Update: i tried to verify the game file integrity, and after that i finally spawned at a different location!! and then when i restarted the game i was spawned in a different area again! i thought the problem was fixed, BUUUUT!!! when i tried to restart game again, the same problem occurred, i.e. i was respawning at the same location again. im using a UI mode (Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments), could that be the problem?

Well, Canada has a strong bias for Tundra, and a lesser one towards snow So that's going to limit the likely spawn points. When a map is generated, so too are the potential starting points, which are generated to space out civs. Once those points are determined, the game then applies the biases of the civs that are to be in the game, giving 'scores' to each civ and then placing them where they get the highest score.

I'm not sure how it determines start points exactly for an Earth map; I would imagine that there are not that many tundra points that are generated to begin with. So it may only come up with 2 or 3 tundra/near tundra start points each time, and the biases just keep putting Canada in the same spot. Other civs may have biases that prevent other potential spots going to Canada. Say a spot near some tundra is available, but also has some regular flat grassland tiles. But Maya are in the game - the spot is likely to go to the Maya instead, due to their own strong bias towards basic terrain, but also a middle bias for tundra as well.

I imagine if you play a Civ with no biases, like China, you will probably have a much more varied number of start options, leading to different starting points each time to restart.

Look carefully. There are 4 maps you may use but think it's another:
1)Earth
2)Earth Huge
3)TSL Earth
4)TSL Earth Huge.

By the post at the start of the thread, I expect Mortimer was expecting 3 or 4 but used 1 or 2. I can tell by the description. I used #2, and it is a static start list.

Use TSL Earth Huge. "Accept no substitutes."
