Yes, I agree this is annoying too : The devs should really add an option which allow the player not to have to confirm every X turns that he wants to continue to study future tech. I guess this should not be too difficult to do technicaly speaking so I'm confident this will be solved some day.

that's a symptom, but not the real issue. i think the real issue is that tech pacing is way to fast and reaching the end of the tech tree (both trees actually) can easily happen before the game is over. the repeatable generic "future tech" should be a fallback option for some weird edge cases, not the norm. the game should end before you run out of actual stuff to research.

GOD I hope they fix this. There is no reason to have to choose future tech every time, I've had it (and civic) going off every turn or two for centuries. It's a serious drain on my time in a game that already consumes days at a time.

Just give us the option of choosing one of the end research/civics until we decide to change it. Should be a small fix. Please?

The game is quite obviously still in beta guys. This stuff will all be taken care of a year or two from now.

Shut up George Jetson and push that button. Insignificant button pusher! (joking)

Well, perhaps a future tech will solve this problem! (looks doubtful)

it's annoying, though your tech shouldn't outpace your production to the extent where you haven't won a science victory before it starts becoming a problem unless you've got a monopoly on the game. In those games where you get all the really good great scientists though I sometimes do end up on repeat future tech every few turns mode before I win. Sounds like it should be a simple fix to me.

I disable science victory and just have fun slowly taking over every single city in the game.

Just wait for addons, the modders will save that game and make a big deal out of it ;-)

I fixed this for my game already, not too hard to do really:

1 - Find and open:

\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Assets\Gameplay\Data\Technologies

2 - Find this line:

<Row TechnologyType="TECH_FUTURE_TECH" Name="LOC_TECH_FUTURE_TECH_NAME" Description="LOC_TECH_FUTURE_TECH_DESCRIPTION" Cost="500000" AdvisorType="ADVISOR_GENERIC" EraType="ERA_INFORMATION" UITreeRow="0" Repeatable="true"/>

3 - Change the cost to 500k like I did. Save the file and close it

4 - For Civics find and open:

\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Assets\Gameplay\Data\Civics

5 - Find:

<Row CivicType="CIVIC_SOCIAL_MEDIA" Name="LOC_CIVIC_SOCIAL_MEDIA_NAME" Description="LOC_CIVIC_SOCIAL_MEDIA_DESCRIPTION" Cost="500000" AdvisorType="ADVISOR_CULTURE" EraType="ERA_INFORMATION" UITreeRow="2" Repeatable="true"/>

6 - Again change the cost to 500k. Save and close file.

7 - Load up game and enjoy!

I can tell you it makes a HUGE difference. There is one downside - You will never learn that civic and those cards that come with it. It's not that much of a biggy tho. 1 card just gives you more culture that you really don't need at this point in the game. The other is a tourism boost so unless you are going for a culture win (and even then) not too much of a loss.

I find it amazing that it's been this long and this incredibly obvious QOL feature is still missing. lol
The whole lategame is incredibly lackluster.

An annoyance for sure that should have been programmed to become automatic after the first manual selection of future tech or civics.

This one I haven't tried myself, but there is a mod that I think is suppose to solve that problem.

In 2016, when the game was new, I can maybe understand... But here, in 2024, if you're at the point you have to repeat future techs multiple times and still haven't win the game, I'd say your main problem is not in the game features, but between the chair and the screen :D

You are aware that not all people bought the game in 2016, right?
Even if they did, there are so many reasons that can lead to not winning the game in the time frame that you want them to.... right?

It's not only about the lack of repeatable future tech, it's about dozens of small issues that overall make Civ VI more annoying than fun

For me the game works only with well chosen mods, but even this doesn't solve all the problems

Civ VI is the most unattended, unpolished game I've ever had, it was totally unplayable for the first year or two it got released (even minimap was a mess back then)

After 8 years I still cannot play it smoothly (yet again), because of constant problems with the launcher, that doesn't launch anything
