Using Bombers?
I started a duel map in the industrial area to test the waters with the modern units, etc. I've never made it to that era before winning....of course I also haven't gone for a science win yet.

I bulit a Bomber, but all I can do is move it from city to city....how do I use it to bomb other cities? Even when I've discovered the opposing forces I still couldn't send it to bomb their city.

your bomber has a certain range. if your opponents cities are too far away you cant bomb them.
build an airfield and station the bomber there.. or build a carrier.

Okay thank you. Had a sneaky suspicion, but thought I'd ask.

You need line of sight to pick the target. No rear area bombing so far, even if inside the bomber range.

You need to click the button on the bomber screen, it will then highlight possible targets that are in range, I think its called air operations or something similar. Am not in game so I cannot check but its an icon showing an airplane with 2 directional arrows.

Right, it's greyed out. I'm not line of sight or anything of the target, and they are quite aways away, so I think that's the issue.

I have found bombers to be much better against cities with 100+ defense than corps of artillery. It takes a while but they don't get bombarded because they are not out in the open. It takes many turns but I bomb cities until their defenses are at 0, then send in ground troops. You need line of sight but I use Apostles for that as they can only be attacked by other Apostles.

bombers excel on carriers in maps with a good amount of ocean.
for landlocked maps just use bombard class.
corps of bombards is self defeating, shoot it 3x instead.
apostles can be attacked by mil units if at war, so they make sorry scouts if not careful.

This drove me insane for about 30 mins, until I found this on Google. keep this MF alive.

I just built my bomber, but like my other planes, it can't just 'go' somewhere? And I thought my base was close enough to this city I want to bomb, but I'll build a closer air strip. Maybe it's the mountains in-between. I've seen other pictures of Bombers like circling, so that's why it's confusing.

So, to clarify, if a bomber's air-base isn't close enough to an 'at-war' enemy, then that bomber is useless?

edit: nvm the bomber is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless. It starts a war but then won't attack the sqaure i started a war on. wtf?

I think you can use a spy to give you sight of the enemy city so you can bomb it. Send the spy there, but don' t give him (her) a mission to do. That should light up the city center for you.
