How to make peace?

So I started a war, kicking some ass, but how do I make peace with the civ?

You have to have been at war for an amount of turns - ten on standard, I think - then a "make peace" button pops up in the diplomacy menu. Whether you get your opponent to agree is another matter.

I've been in a bunch of wars, but this option has never popped up. I don't think it's possible to ask the AI for peace... only they can ask it from you. And if you don't give them what they want, you'll have to keep the war going. It's annoying that I can't ask them for peace but they can keep making demands for peace like wanting all their cities back when I have their capital surrounded and still deny me when I counter peace for peace. I don't get it. It's very annoying.

Not true, I am able to demand peace. They just do not offer crap, so, it is best to kill as many of their units as you can. They will sue for peace and give you almost every lux they have for 30 turns and a lot of gold.

I find that 100 mere gold are usually enough to make em accept peace.

Maybe the next game I start is the one where I'll actually be able to offer peace myself then. I know you guys says it's possible, but I've yet to see it as an option.

Personally I wasn't able to offer peace right away in my wars, but after like 10 turns I was able to.
