You get multiple declarations of war by AI at the same turn? Why and How Not To
Why: When your military strength and citiy protection (especially capital) is low the AI will flag you as a potential easy prey. This may particularly happen in higher difficulties, where the AI builds a high number of units, and you may easily drop below the threshold. When this occurs several DoWs (declarations of war) may spam you at the same turn.

It does not matter almost at all if you are friend or not. The AI plays to win the game, not to make friends with you.

How to avoid: Build more troops and wall your cities (especially your capital). At higher difficulties consider levies. They do not cost so much, and make perfect cannon fodder.

Also, I believe two civs declaring on the same turn is almost always a Joint War, which has slightly less warmonger penalty and can be done even without denouncing you. Makes it attractive for the AI

Negative, when two AIs DoW you on the same turn it's a joint war deal. There are currently no logic checks on joint wars, your allies or friends can declare a joint war on you even though it should be impossible for them to do so, they also don't consider your strength (that may play a factor in the value of the deal, but the AI doesn't care because both sides thinks it's a good deal). It's just completely random and there's nothing you can do to prevent them other than disabling joint wars in the game files, which I have done and it has made the game so much more sane. I'm really surprised they haven't hotfixed this yet. It's nearly game breaking.

Joint wars are supposed to have 100% war penalty, it's in the game files. They are just all sorts of broken.

It does check your strength

It factors into the deal value, but it doesn't stop the AIs from making the deal because they don't understand it's a war declaration. Vastly weaker civs will joint war on you then beg you for peace offering all their gold several turns later.

They beg after your smash their faces. The initial trigger condition is always depending on your strength.

Well, think of it differently. You play MP and your typical noob builds juicy wonders. Are you going to pass, or attack? Now think you get an offer to double DoW on the noob, will you pass?
Astasia Oct 27, 2016 @ 6:13am
No, they literally wont even try to attack because they know they are too weak. They joint war you, do nothing, then like 10-30 turns later they ask for peace and offer literally every gold coin they have because they are that terrified of you. I have had this happen over and over. They are terrified of me, it's in their diplomatic relations chart, yet they still joint war me because they think it's a good way to get a lot of gold from some other civ.

It's like they think it's some random commodity they can sell for gold, so they need gold and ask some other AI to give them gold for this "joint war thingy" they don't understand. The deal goes through and they are like, "Oh, crap. Please don't hurt me."

Well if someone gives them gold, then maybe it makes sense. Why not? If someone gives me gold on MP to join a war, I take the gold and do nothing too. Why not? :-D

How many countries actually sent troopers at Afghanistan?

the ai is just broken, sorry... there is no "sense" behind it.
I got attacked by the only AI which was my friend for the whole game.
They have been friendly, they had 2 cities I had 10, they had no chance to survive whatsoever, they still attacked me for no reason ( the alliance just run out, we have been friendly I sent them convoys for free and our agendas and religion met ) and lost in 15 turns all they had.

Sorry, but the AI is simply broken. Im not sure, but im quite sure it was way better in civ 5 but even if not... its just a joke for a new game :(

OK the AI has a random generator and takes decisions based on dice rolls with 12 faces. Happy now?

Some people will never take any advice seriously, they are convinced in their virtual reality.

Try not to build any troopers and see how many DoWs you will get by turn 50.
Kepnik Oct 27, 2016 @ 6:22am
dont know how it works, but clearly its not working... I just played one game, with not idea of how the new civ works, and its really no challenge at all..

If you wanna do cultural or science victory, okay... but If you use your military no AI will ever be any problem if you dont play like a donkey. I was attacked by 4 AI's at the same time, wow what a thrill, such an amazing amount of units running around my towns :D ;-))

Some DoWs stir things up. I hated the fact in CIV5 that I could play for 1000s of years without any DoW on Emperor.

I have almost 140 hours played and still not one declaration of war... I guess everyone likes me.

These problems some are having with aggressive AI is not because of the game. It's noobs that don't understand the game and/or can't play it. I have no problems with the AI, nothing. Some are friendly some are angry and some between over there and there's always a reason for these.

I have now about 25h of gameplay. I'm still playing the first game, which I started in prince difficulty and huge map with over 15 other civilization in it. Not even once have the AI done something that doesn't make sense.
