Load Times
Anyone have mods to reduce loading. This game is so incredibly slow with such terrible graphics I just dont understand what the problem is. Was it made in the 90s?

Better CPU.
I have a i3770k and it loads pretty good.

Going from an amd 3600 to a 5800x made a noticeable difference for me.
More importantly, look at your storage. Hard drives will take multiple minutes on avg, ssds will drop that to under a minute, and nvme storage will make it a much less noticeable event in your life.
As of now, loading a late game huge map will take me about 20 seconds with the 5800x and nvme gen 4 drive.

I still on HDD. I want to upgrade but I never run out of memory xD

HDDs are good for data storage, SSDs are good for read/write speed.
I explained the difference in relative speed with examples from benchmarking some of my own drives here:

yes of course. What drives have the most free firmware?
Hard to find one I trust. Just like Shingled HDD. The firmware is, questionable at best.

I can't justify putting this on my SSD, but it loads in well under a min on my non-ssd drive on a new machine for the largest map (no mods). New games take a lot longer, though. Just talking a load last save. I don't think the save game file is *that* large, that it would take 'minutes' to get off the disk. I think its the processing of it that is getting you, to recreate everything, not the transfer speed.

I noticed that when I moved the game from the HDD to the SSD the loading time was reduced like by half, so using a SSD will get u a better performance.

My theory is they purposefully make loading times long to deter save-scumming. I'm still not going to agree to play on the common tundra AND desert start location, though.

IT's processing time, not graphics. Lots of things for the cpu to calculate. If you can overclock that will help.

Not a single suggestion was given on mods on a game with 1000 mods... Setting a Cache for the game seems to be the only thing ramping up the speed. I found a few mods on the steam workshop to help.

AI fast battles, no AI messages, no history timeline, no wonder visual, no AI trade. Turn off score/religious victory and make a pool of civs without religious AI (they take the longest to load, are garbage, and wont ever win anyways).

Still looking for something to fix the the camera movement to match the UI (says pick production on a city, but moves to a unit instead with the city menu up).
