Did the recent Updates break the game?
Hi everyone,

I'm coming back from like a 5-6 month break, and in my 300+ hours I never had any issues with the game. Everything worked perfectly fine, even the multiplayer.

However in my last 4 games, in all 4 games after turn 100+ sometimes my game freezes at the end of the turn and crashes to desktop without an error message, or it stucks waiting for the AI to finish their turn.

I didn't change anything, only using the pin-map mod and nothing else.

Did anyone experience such issues?

Since they acquired CIV III and upgraded the visual side to the game it has become more unstable with every release, update and DLC. The supported map sizes shrink and shrink due resource limitations. The Lua code and xml data system is all still the same and that side I doubt is the issue.

It is time they look at recompiling the core to support more memory and stability verse staking more and more on top of the existing core in an effort to buy a buck, imao.
There is also no mention of any of these recent issues on the 2K forums.....
My game doesn't crash but there's a bug with the recent update, so I can't build new districts in old cities once I enter the atomic age.
I think this issue is strongly gpu driver related. The latest Geforce drivers are causing the crashes. I just tried an "older" driver 451.48 and CIV6 runs stable like hell.
Firaxis should strongly examine this issue together with NVdia to fix this mess.
So the Civic Tree Bug kept occurring as we tried to restart with the same server settings but different map and game seeds, finally changed map type from Shuffle to Island Plates, changed no other settings, and suddenly the Civic Tree worked normally again. As it also worked normal on Splintered Fractal and True Start Earth I suspect that perhaps it has something to do with Shuffle Map type.
Oh my god, 3 crashes in the last 10 minutes. Unbelievable.
So as it turns out the problem with the Civic Tree wasn't because of the Shuffle type map but rather it kept occurring anytime we saved or loaded a configuration. So far we've never run into the bug when we created a whole new game versus loading a saved configuration.

Good to know about! Now if only they would fix the 'please wait' issue that popped up since barbarians... Then me and my friend can play again... :winter2019neutralbulb:

There is a known bug in the current patch with dramatic ages and the culture industry golden card. I causes the speciality districts to become unlimited resources required (or no production able).
Also, just like someone here previous said - rollback your driver to an older version (if youre using a nvidia card). I had no crashes in the last 30 hours or so played.
Interestingly enough I just had a crash on trying to start the game, first time that's happened.
I am experiencing regular crashes all of the sudden. This wasn't happening a week ago. I updated my graphics driver and I can confirm (after 2 crashes today,) it didn't fix it.

Updating also did not fix it for me, like i stated at first. Actually rollbacking the drivers to an older version (in this case 451.48) did the magic. Just make sure to clean the drivers via DDU first.

What I noticed that is broken or bugged are the beards on the Leaders and Arts and Relic trading also Tourism numbers don't show.
Never ever had problems. It does crash now every time.
EDIT, reloaded and it happened again on turn 104
