Matterhorn?
Just coming back after years away, and I see older posts on this. Does the buff still have issues? Some places, it seems to say the movement bonus is for recon units, but I see the 'alpine training' when I move a regular land combat unit there too. And it appears to take, since units moving away from there move through the hills faster.

BUT, as far as I can tell, the buff doesn't show when you view the unit, making it a PITA to keep straight which units haven't gotten it yet. And you just have to trust that the combat bonus in hills is being applied. Am I missing something, or is this still just messy?

It does show now. Select the unit. Then hover over the unit's picture in the lower right. It should show a list of all the buffs that are not promotions. This was put in about 2 years ago IIRC.

edit: here is an example (just happened to have matterhorn in my current game!)

When I get those promotions I change the unit's name asap, adding something that makes it easier to identify it.

Great idea! Thanks.
Thanks for the answers.

Thanks again. I wasn't hovering over the picture, just looking at the popup in the bottom right. The minimalist approach to menus and popups has its advantages, but I still wish for a good old sub screen full of information at times. I've got to find a good production queue mod, too.
What’s causing you issue with the default queue?

There isn't one. Is there? I tried a mod from the workshop, but it wasn't working right. I can roll without a build queue, it just seems wrong for a Civ game not to have it.
It does. The default is that you have to enable it each time, but in the game options there’s a toggle to default queue to always active.

Thanks, I'll look for it. Not only am I rusty after years away, I'm blown away by all the mechanics the expansions have added. And I've been playing Civ since the first game was a new thing. I can't imagine what the learning curve is like for a complete newcomer.
Let me know if my reference was too vague to find the setting! I was quite glad for it, myself. :stein:

I found it, thanks.
