Civ 6 Full Screen Won't Work

Civ 6 opens in borderless window mode and I cannot change it in game. I click full screen and confirm, but nothing changes. Perhaps borderless window wouldn't be so obnoxious if I could adjust the resolution, but I can't do that, either.

I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, no change.
I have gone to the "appoptions" document in the folder and set fullscreen to 1, no change.
I put my civ 6 folder in the exclusions for Windows Defender, no change.
I have been tirelessly looking for similar threads, and none have solutions that work.

How can I get my game to go back to full screen? Any advice besides "wait around for a patch"?

i have a similar issue where i tried it at full screen on MacOS and now i can't get it to launch in window mode. changing resolution doesn't do anything.

I had the same issue. Disabling Steam In-Game Overlay fixes it for me (and if I enable it again it breaks it again). You can change this in the Steam properties for the game.

Same issue here. Anyone found a solution? In game overlay seems to be disabled and I cannot even enable it for some reason (button not clickable)
