Secret societies mode flawed horribly
First of all, secret societies are something in real life one can join. You can leave one as well, join another if they will have you. This is the first flaw, if we join one we should be able to leave.

2nd bigger flaw, I had hermetics society, one of the best ones mirroring history. It does not do much until the Medieval era, I let it sit there.

Game gave me Owls of Minivera, I did not want that one as the game generally gives you that always. I decided, okay I will reload which I do not like doing.

Once I reloaded Owls of Minivera was still there. What in the world is this nonsense? You hard coded so many things in the game, modding is almost impossible due to these restrictions.

you get everyone who are fans to pay 40$ for this nonsense and you deliver garbage. I have played civ since civ 1. 65 years old and 25th anniversary should reflect the game play we all loved and admired.

Instead you setup wars all the time, every land mass has a civ on it with you. What if we want to play a different way as an empire builder and want to be left alone until your read to meet other civs.

The game is all about wars and violence, if your military is slightly weak, a war will ensue. Real world does not work that way. What most players who played as long as I have enjoyed was the realism in the game

Our world had/has wars only due to the bankers, industrial military complex.. what is your issue guys? Oh money you want everyone to enjoy wars sell more games lol

I do not know but civ series is officially dead to me. When I am horribly bored I may play but not with any of the junk I paid for.. it is all garbage and I am sure many will disagree those who are violent themselves will reply to try and beat me up.. No matter I never read replies have at it!!

A few of things I do in my games...

I don't take the first society that presents itself. If I want a specific society, I look to fulfill the prerequisite to get it.

If I don't want constant war, I turn off the domination victory condition.

I build an army/navy early-doesn't have to be big, just enough to show the other civs you are not weak-and they will likely leave you alone, but, of course some may still declare war. Sending a delegation early helps to make friends. You will still have those that won't like you no matter what. (Norway always hates me for not having a navy, even if I'm landlocked, lol)

I just like to play to have fun and not let it stress me out. It is what it is.

Gotta love people who decide to rant about how broken the game is before they take any time to learn how the game works.

Do I even need to mention half your rant has nothing to do with Secret Societies mode and sounds completely nuts?

Sadly but thats exactly how the real world works. If there were some periods of peace on this earth they were due some treaties/outcomes made by the previous wars winners. As long as one of the powers becomes unsatisfied with its current state you can expect another war to happen. Of course it doesnt mean that it has to be a violent war like WWII for instance... but it could be an economy one like the current one between US and China instead. Small countries will always be a puppet states to some other great power and fell under its interetst, etc. So in this regard civ 6 walks in the right direction imho

Lower your difficulty to the lowest possible setting

Play with less Civs on the map

Scroll thru the governor's screen to see the other societies.

civ is not a real-life simulator. it's a 4x game.
Power & Revolution 2019 Edition is a real life sim kinda mixed reviews but it's the closest of real life sim you can get on steam I think.
