Damaged Districts
Loving the game so far. Won my first play through as France Now playing an epic game on King difficuty.
My question is do damaged districts from battle or pillaging slowly repair themselves over time or is the only way to repair them is too make them the active project in the city? I have noticed a different number of turns for different damaged districts in the city menu at the same time as well for the damaged buildings in the districts.

I am correct in understanding workers can't repair districts and their damaged buildings.

They'll show up in your build queue selection list.
Workers can't repair them, and they don't repair on their own. The only way to fix the damage is to order the city to complete the appropriate repair project.

Yes , I understand that. Let's say I have a city with 2 damaged districts in it from pillaging. I open up the citys production menu and see diiferent number of truns to repair each district and differnt number of turns for each of the damaged buildings in the district. One might say 2 turns another maybe 10 and another maybe17, each seem to have a little progress bar next to it. Did these start slowly repairing automatcicly with out being an active project in the city or did they received a different amount of damge during the pillaging. I have noticed this before I started to make it an active project in the city. I figured that if a district/building is pillaged it would take the same damage and take the same amount of time to repair, but it seems that there is a varibale somewhere, either in the amount of damage done or it repair themselves slowly, maybe when no enemy ocuupies the tile.
My understanding is that they do not repair themselves over time. The difference you are seeing in repair times is due to varying amounts of damage caused by the pillaging unit. I assume that this is determined based on the strength of the pillaging unit, but I do not know for sure.

Edit: If you want to confirm whether or not they repair themselves, pass several turns while building something else and note if the progress bar progresses.

The ai if you captured the city probably started repair each building after you smashed it up, if it's your own city.. and you haven't tried to repair anything.. no idea.

ok, but might seem strange or odd that a single unit builder can repair any map improvement, mine, quarry plantation, ect. in just a turn and do it three or more times. But a district/buliding takes a whole lot longer say 20 turn more or less. A district in a city usaully have many people living and working in them and might make sence that they slowly repair themselves at least the districts only, so then the damaged buildings can be made an active project inthe city. I am not saying it should happen in a turn or two but very slowly based on population of the city, you could always make it an active project to finnish it quicker. I think if it was a real city people would slowly fix things up over time because it is where they live and work, then the city can alway bring in the city workers ( make it an active project) to speed up the repair.

I don't know just think here and thoughts out there?
