My Apostles spreading another AI's religon?
An enemy AI player started spreading their religon to my capitol city and converted the majority to that religon (religon X) so i started pumping out Apostles of my own to counter it and try and spread MY religon and convert my citizens back to (religon Y). Instead of spreading religon Y though, my Apostles were just spreading religon X instead. It would show for example "+250 Religon X" when i would use the "Spread Religon" move. Is this a bug or does it work by my apostles spreading the religon with the majority of citizens in my capitol?

You must first convert your city to your religion before you buy apostles who spread your religion. If you buy apostles or missionaries with faith they will be of the current majority religion of the city.

I guess it's like V but dumbed down and no holy city bonus. In Civ V you couldn't convert a holy city so easily.

Yeah, it's happened to me too - all religious units created will have the same Faith as the predominant faith in the city they were created.

So, if the AI inflicts it's faith on your capital and then you purchase an Apostle there, it will be of the same faith as the AI.

AI religion spamming is certainly something that needs to be fixed.

There needs to be some sort of measure where you can block or slow down other civs apostles and missionaries. The "fighting" between apostles is very tiresome and doesn't feel realistic.

Yeah no kidding. I am so close to winning a science victory when all of a sudden this other civ comes onto my continent spamming its own religon and now im in panic mode because im about to lose. The other civ needs just 1 more civ to convert and it wins. Aint that about a ♥♥♥♥♥...

Thanks for the help guys. Now I know not to be so lax when it comes to other religons but they definately need to fine tune the religon spreading aspect a bit.

use an apostle for inquisition, then make a few inquistors and hide em. The will instantly convert your cities back. You do have plan this ahead of ai spam though.
