Will they fix dam's?
So many times now after getting the gathering storm dlc I've come across the problem of placing dams. I've placed some in situations that fill the condition but in other situations with the same conditions they can't be placed which screws up the industry adjacency bonus and then stops me from being able to place one at all with me just looking at like maybe I will be able to place one later hoping that it just works. I've also came across a lot of threads with the same issue also.

Is this something seen by devs that needs to be fixed or is it just a non-issue to them?

Would be great if it was just a one tile floodplains next to a river for the condition.

99% of the threads I've seen were one of two things-

1) User error
2) An issue with the map or map type. (this is far less common than it was right after GS launch)

The only time I've run into a situation where I wanted to place a dam and couldn't, it turned out I wasn't looking closely enough, and miscalculated, or I accidentally built something else in the wrong place. I've begun using map pins when I make a city plan to avoid some of that.

I've took a few pictures now and can easily take more because it happens a lot.

I always use map pins, I place them same river both floodplains. People have said you can't place if there's a district on one of the tiles which is wrong because I was able to in one game. The idea of it itself is broken because they say it has to go between two floodplains with the same river name which makes sense right? But it doesn't take up two tiles and the animation even moves over to one so why not just make it a one tile placement in a floodplain next to a river which makes sense and solves the issue of it just not working even with conditions met.

Dams have a very specific build condition. The river must border 2 edges of the floodplain tile. Things get WEIRD when multiple rivers start intersecting. Each river requires its own dam.

Can you provide a screenshot for us?

When they intersect I get no issues, almost seems better. It's endings of areas that seem an issue and I've noticed with aqueducts once. How do I post screenshot? I never done through steam for some reason and used windows screenshot probably because I've been using epic launcher recently but have the files.

The bug shown in that video is what happens when you start building a district, then stop, and then discover a strategic resource on the district's tile before you can resume construction of it. As you can see, it becomes impossible to finish constructing the district.

This problem can happen to any district, and isn't related to the difficulty that can arise in understanding which tiles are valid locations for a dam.

Interesting, I've had no issue with other districts, maybe it's just gathering storm districts ie canals and dams. I purposely just put down districts before iron to make sure when it spawns I have all my districts placed/unbuilt so I don't lose adjacency. I've had iron spawn on them and it was fine.

1. The marked hex only touches the river with 1 side, not with 2, so it correctly can't be build there.
2. The same here
3. Wich tile are you refering to in particular? The tile left from the industrial zone should be able to build one, the tile down left from it has the same problem like in the first 2 screenshots.

I think I see what you mean, I was thinking the same with image 1. Image two it just doesn't have floodplain but even if it did with the current rules I still wouldn't be able to place.

Still doesn't make sense though in general. Imo you should be able to place there.

"It must be built on a Floodplains tile and the River must traverse at least 2 adjacent sides of the future Dam tile."

You would assume that would just mean on either side of the river having flood plains.

The last image I couldn't place in either of the two tiles.

Well, 99% of the game doesn't make sense compared to real life^^ It's just a gameplay mechanic to make it a littlebit harder to place dams on a river, so that you've to think more about proper placement of your districts in general.
