Can't Create Game
I don't know what's going on. It was working a few days ago when I last played. When I go to create game, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then it has a loading message, but before the screen with my leader comes up, that real loading screen, it just pops back to the main menu.

At first I thought it was tied to a new map type I was trying or a leader or something, but I experimented with all the options and it's still happening. It will not create a game.

Does anyone else have this problem? Help!

This is generally caused by outdated, broken or incompatible mods.

I'm not using any mods. It just doesn't let me start a game. I ended up uninstalling it, and steam, and reinstallling, and the problem persists.

Delete the file Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods.sqlite

Same issue. Deleted mods.sqlite as mentioned. No luck.

Did you also disable mods? That's the first step fix.

Same problem, no mods, as I keep saying. People are having this problem without mods.

I have no mods, no DLC, nothing. Just vanilla.

Try verifying files. Most people aren't having this issue, and most who do it's related to mods.

Similar issue.
Sometimes I'm able to create a game, but whenever I try to load the save, it goes back to the main menu instead.

I verified files, made a fresh installation, deactivated mods. Deleted the files in MyDocuments.

Nothing worked so far.

Well, I feel dumb. I tried the verification thing a bunch of times and uninstalled and reinstalled and everything, and nothing was working. I didn't check the mods thing, because I was certain I didn't have mods. So certain! Then I finally checked if I was subscribed to any, and I was subscribed to two. Seeing them, I remembered late one night when I had just shut down the game, I decided to get some mods that added units. I had completely forgotten about the whole thing.

Anyway, I unsubscribed from the mods, and started it up, and it worked right away. Thanks for the help everyone.
