Segfaults can have something to do with drivers. But usually it's a kernel reaction to a program you are running.
Can you run dmesg or some kind of log to try to tell us what it was doing before the crash?
I use spy shelter firewall on windows. Which logs any executable action. So it can usually give some details on crashes and the like.
How it all began. Purchased by Civilization 6 and every possible addition at this point, the operating system before the update was Windows 10 1803.
Hardware is a laptop with Core i7 2670-M, 8GB of RAM, Video Geforce 540M and Intel HD Graphics 3000.
In this configuration, I had Civilization 6 working in DirectX 11 mode.
I upgraded the system to Windows 10 20H2, and the game stopped running, making a mistake that couldn't initiate the video (automatically the game was chosen by GeForce 540M).
I've been tormented for a long time. As a result, the game started with the old driver 372.70, but there was a flicker of the picture and a regular error message:
"EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Error writing address ....
Call Stack
-----------------------------------------------------
??? ! ??? ???, line 0
.... "
In an attempt to expose vertical synchronization, I found out that the old driver did not have a preset for the CivilizationVI file.exe. The synchronization could not be put out, but there was an idea. I installed a new driver, it set up the CivilizationVI.exe file were immediately laid down and it was impossible to remove these settings. Then I was in the settings for the CivilizationVI.exe file forced to use... graphics from Intel! And also removed all game settings from the folder ... My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI.
The game started to start. But still in the process of creating a new game flew out with a mistake. Then I created a game without new game modes. No mistakes. Launched with game modes - also stopped flying out.
1. Uninstall the game
2. Delete the files in the documents folder> my games> Sid Meier's Civilization VI
3. Install the game again.
This method worked for me just now. What a pain!

I got it while playing a ~week ago, it was also running fine in the beginning, but then after 3-4 hours, it crashed. Then I started it again and played it for a while fine, but then it crashed again.
But maybe they did change something in the week I didn't play it?
