Civ 6 crashing now listing "Unhandled Exception Code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Error writing address 0x65400"
I haven't play Civ 6 in around a week and now it gets to far as the dialogue on a new game (after selecting settings on the start menu) and it now crashes with the following error. The initial launcher page looks different now this week so I'm not sure if that has changed anything.
I've checked and updated my graphics drivers (no update needed).
The only updates have been to standard windows periodic updates.
Any help gratefully received as I can;t play Civ 6 at all now.

Guys, this Unhandled Exception error happens every 10 to 15 minutes NON STOP. I'd tried every suppose fix listed online. Non of them work. So don't bother to waste your time. I think we all should just ask 2K games or Steam for our money back. It's a faulty product, period!!!! I'd been dealing with it the last 5 days, tried everything ever mentioned, the game is just trash. The more DLC they push out the more bugs it created and we are the ones to test the game for them and we don't even get paid. WE should all demand a refund!!!

The first update, a few months ago, caused the problem you are having, it sucks. Didn't play for a while, reinstalled, it's been working great...why? I don't know, because like you, I tried EVERYTHING, and nothing worked before. The bottom line, while it's working now for me, they know there's a big problem and refuse to address it.

Plenty of comments from me above on this thread. Latest feedback from Firaxis to me directly after hassling them on Twitter.....

They say they have not had enough tickets taken up with 2K about crashing problems to warrant doing anything about it. I suggested they rethink their service and support mechanisms.

Its up to us all to request a ticket with 2K otherwise this issue will never get fixed. Its a shocking indictment really because they assure me that they monitor the forums here and reddit and on social media so how they are missing this all is bizarre.

So in a nutshell, unless theres a critical mass of 2K tickets registered and assuming that 2K cannot get things sorted, then Firaxis MAY do something about it.

If I had treated my customers' problems and issues the way Firaxis do, I would have been fired many times over during my career.

Final words - register your issues with 2K and badger Firaxis via Twitter / Facebook. Hey you never know.......it may work

I believe this and have been saying it for months. If indeed there is some elusive software/hardware incompatibility which is previously undocumented, the only way to get it documented is to provide enough evidence.

I'm skeptical of this. I don't believe an official statement from the company would include anything resembling "we don't see it enough so it's not worthy of resource". It's just not a practice whether it were true or not. Any company would say, "we will look at it", or "it has been elevated" to "(this group)". Not trying to drag it out with screenshot or anything, I just think it's not a very good thing to put in an otherwise great post.

Cheers Exemplar......I paraphrased........Re the comments from Firaxis, I quote verbatim from their tweet ' Unfortunately, we're not seeing many tickets coming in that are reporting crashes. We rely on the info that Customer Support gathers from players in order to reproduce, investigate and fix issues. Without those.....theres just not a lot we can do'

I went on to point out, as a final word regarding my specific problem, that my game worked perfectly until I installed New Frontier - nothing had changed on my pc from the moment before I installed NF to the point at which I was using the game with NF, ie a period of some 15 minutes time taken to download the dlc. They didnt reply.

By the way they also told me that they dont comb through the likes of reddit / Steam / CivFanatics etc to try and find useful reports that contain the information they need. I guess that means that the crash report windows that pop up saying a report can be forwarded to the developers may possibly be ignored?

Not much more I can say on this whole topic at this point but I will keep looking here to see if anyone stumbles across a God fix for the problems too many of us are experiencing.

I get these errors nonstop. Right now it gets about halfway through loading when it pops up with 0x20. Sometimes if I move a unit a long distance I get 0x15c. On occasion when I have a trade route that finishes its first route (usually my first ever trade route) I'll get 0x15c by clicking a target city, but not when clicking "resend". Other times it just pops up when I select that trade unit.
Gone over all my mods, deleted a crapton, only picked ones that shouldn't interact with one-another and which shouldn't be impacting loadscreens (where half the crashes occur) or unit movement (where the other crashes occur). It's certainly gotten ten times worse with the last couple of updates. Bloody infuriating.

Renderer.log also has this line repeating itself quite a few times:

[2020-10-02 11:25:12] Error: ResourceList.AddResource(), attempting to add more than 8192 items.

I'm not sure if this means there's literally too many resources being crammed into a standard-sized map, or if it just means "game resources" in general like textures, geometry and so forth.

Edit: Another thing if I remember right is all these crashes started when I started adding secret societies mode into my startup builds. Gonna test it out without secret societies to see if it makes a difference.

Edit2: Secret societies isn't doing it. Crap.

Edit3: YnAMP and Apocalypse mode aren't doing it either. Wtf.

At first it was just when I moved a unit a long distance but now I can't even start a game because it crashes halfway through..........

I combed through my mods trying to find the culprit, but it seemed like every time I did something else would make it crash, I've finally accepted that it's not a mod problem.

I had the freezing about 30 min in right after the New Frontier update. Did the clean install, only enabled the official mods, disabled all overlays and it has worked with all the updates after the first. The thing is, I did this three times, on the third time it worked. I went crazy for three weeks disabling things, nothing worked, I feel you but there is a fix, why can't they find it?
