Saladin - does *not* get the free Great Prophet
Okay, this is really irritating. Started a game as Saladin purely and only because he is supposed to get a free Great Prophet when the next to last ne is claimed. This does not happen. I now have a situation where it is impossible to srart a religion because there are no Great Prophets left to claim, and all 7 religions are now founded.
How can one of the basic leader characteristics be broken????? That is just sloppy.

do you have to have a holy site for this to work?
Mayhem Effect Nov 21, 2016 @ 8:28am
... it worked for me.

I have the Holy Site. Built it as soon as I could, thinking I was set - this just is not true though.
Can I post screenshots here? All are gone yet I am still on pantheon at 239 faith that is now pointless

prolly not required. seems legit.
saved game from when there is only 1 or 2 prophets left would be more useful for the developers i reckon.

hmm, worked for me, and I had no holy site - a great prophet just got "dumped" on me.
Could it be that after you got your great prophet, somebody else built Stonehenge, and the game didn't prevent them from getting Stonehenge's free prophet?

Maybe 2 other civs got prophets in the same turn. You're supposed to get the last one, but by the time it got to your turn they were both taken.

Prior to the patch, i know that the saladin Great prophet definately worked. After-patch i cannot say for sure as I'm only 200 turns in (marathon speed emperor) and the 6th prophet has not been grabbed yet.

That said, i think Name Lips may be right. At least that's possible, given the way coding is often done.

Yea Arabia's last prophet Doesn't seem to work if the last 2 prophets were claimed in the same turn exactly as Name Lips said its happened to me once before and I kept loading a save in that game to figure out what was happening.

Always worked for me - Keep in mind other civs need to actually GET prophets for it to happen at all.

Youre missing the point - obviously the other civs have claimed Prophets, or there would still be one left for me. Fact is this is broken as described above

I suspect if you start in a different era, there's no last prophet to claim, as you can only get one per era, and one will be missing.

No you're misunderstanding me - If there aren't any AI civs to actually claim the first prophets, you'll never get the last one. Aggressive AI and early wars can cause this.

Yes, but if that were the case I would still have got one because there would have been one to get eventually anyway as the Holy Site/Shrine/Temple combo would sooner or later (alomng with the great prophet point per turn civic) have given me enough to make this happen.
As it stands, there were none left to get and that was the point of the post - I did not get the next to last one. If things were the way you describe we would not be having this discussion.

Saladin's special trait has nothing to do with the traditional way of earning prophets. If you for some reason manage to get enough points for one before the trait kicks in the trait becomes obsolete.

Anyway - My points was that if you didn't actively earn religion points and there weren't enough AI going religion, the trait would never kick in.

Unless you made frequent autosaves, it's going to be hard to track down what happened - And whether it was by design or a bug.

I also have one question, was this complaint about duel maps, where there is only one prophet available? if so why should saladin be able to start with the only prophet? That in itself would be broken
