Should I get Gathering Storm or just stick with Rise and Fall?

I already own the base game and didn't like it compared to Civ 5.
Would any of the expansions make the game better?
If yes, what should I get?

They make it better, but if you gonna like it depends on what you didn't like in Civ VI and what you expect it to deliver. IMO, it doesn't owe anything to Civ V, which looks dull in comparison by now.

The best deal is the platinum edition, but if you really want to buy only one expansion, buy Gathering Storm. It comes with every system added by Rise & Fall. The only thing from R&F that you gonna miss are the Civs/Leaders, wonders, natural wonders and city-states.

Hmm I guess my question would be are the Gathering Storm improvements worth the $10 price difference?

I have Gathering Storm, and Honestly I did like it compared to Rise and Fall, so yes, probably

Yes, definitely worth the 10 buck difference. GS has all the gameplay mechanics from R&F plus all the new ones it introduces.

Gathering Storm adds so much, yeah its a bit expensive but it does add a LOT.

8 new civs, new leaders, new techs, new civics, new units, disasters, global warming, new ressources system ( I find this one much better) and other things. I couldn't play without GS anymore

Yes.
Buy both, play the Gathering Storm ruleset. It gives you everything from both expansions and when you own Rise&Fall, you'll also get all the content from that in your game.
