Inca BUG ( NOT a BUG, but WOW)
I decided to try playing a GS game (Emperor level I think, on a huge Fractal Map) as the Inca and I have noticed a Major BUG. The Inca can use their Builder units to build Passes over Mountains, somewhat like the tunnels that can be built much later in the game by Military Engineers after getting Chemistry researched. Only they can do it from the beginning of the Game.

The BUG that I have noticed is that ALL Inca Passes seem to be the SAME location, ANY Unit that enters one of them can leave through ANY of the Inca Passes. I first noticed this with my Trade units doing their trade routes ( and not building the roads I wanted them to build). So I kept an eye on them and other units have done the same thing.

I am not sure if their is a range limit, all of my Inca Passes have been within a limited area with only about 10 to 15 tiles or less between any of them.

this is an sample screenshot where a Trade Route by a Trader Unit goes in one Pass and comes out another Pass several tile away. I have seen normal units go in one Pass and come out another Pass 10 or 15 tiles away on the SAME turn.

That is actually how they are supposed to work. As long as they are part of the same mountain range (even though some in that screenshot don't look connected they're still adjacent) you can enter from one and leave from another.

That is a pretty AWESOME ability, if it is NOT a BUG. Even if it is ONLY limited to the SAME mountain range. Some connected Mountain Ranges can go quite a distance. On my HUGE Fractal Map they went for a long distance. I definitely had units go at least 10 or 15 tiles this way (in the same mountain range). What worries me is that other Civs' units can probably use them the same way.

They work exactly the same as the later tunnels and that is indeed a feature and supposed to work that way.

Explained by the devs in one of the livestreams pre release.

IF TUNNELS work the SAME way, WOW. When you have a MAJOR connected MOUNTAIN Range, it will go from being a Barrier to a TELEPORT Super Highway System for your country. Throw in the Inca Terrace Farms and the ability for Population to Work Mountains, which might have some Food production because of the adjacent Terrace Farms, and the INCA with a LOT of Mountains changes into a Regional Super Power.

It will not help them cross oceans and non mountainous terrain, but it is still a game changer for them.(and I am busy building Railroads to connect up my NON Mountainous Terrain).

The INCA just may have become my NEW Favorite Country. It had been Pericles/Greece, who is a Monster in my current game. I am at about turn 236 with my 5th new Era (Golden Age)(at Emperor level) (The Eras were 50, 50, 40, 46, and 50 turns long so far).

I am barely in 1st place with Tech, about 2 techs (but my Spy in Athens could steal a boost in ROBOTICS, i.e. Giant Death Robot) ahead of Greece (I am about to start researching (basic) Tanks and have just finished building my First Airfield, I think I am at 96 points, which means 48 Techs acquired). I am in 2nd place in Civics and I am starting to develop Ideology but Greece has a lead of about TEN Civics (30 points) of me, which is unblieveable. It means that they are almost done with the Civics Tree. This is for an AI controlled Greece.

I am playing on a HUGE Fractal Map, with a HUGE amount of LAND connected together in a super sized continent. Just LOOK at the mini World Map in the lower left hand corner. Except for a few small islands, it is all ONE land mass. It is turn 236 with the start of my 5th New Era.

I did conquer and eliminate one Civ (Mapuche) to my West and South of my starting position just to the East of the Mountain Range, fairly far North. Now I have Mali between me and the rest of the Civs in the World, with an Ocean between me and Germany and Chine to my West ( they are on the Eastern side of the Land Mass). There is still a LOT of missing Map info, but I have good idea of the outlines of the Land Mass that I still need to explore. After doing a LOT of trading I am now very friendly with almost everyone. But I am planning a War with Mali, with Call to Arms in the new Era. Mali is an Economic Trading Power, but I think I can take them militarily and Tech wise. They are in 3rd place in Tech.

If I knew what I know now (about the Inca Passes), my first (and only) War would have been even faster. (and I would have hit Mali a lot sooner). (In fact I am thinking about restarting about turn 100, just after finishing my first War).

True, the Passes do NOT link up in separate Mountain chains. BUT, if there is only a small gap, sometimes only one tile, between those separate Mountain chains, you build the Inca Pass on both sides of that gap and can still move units long distances VERY quickly, in only one or two turns, particularly after a road gets built across that gap by your (or someone else's) Trader (and the Roads WILL get built pretty soon). I can get from my Capital City to the conquered Capital City of Mapuche with a TOTAL of 4 Tiles (plus Passes) to move through between them. (It would have been 3 tiles if I had built the 1st Pass one tile closer to my Capital City). And when you can build Railroads, it is so fast, you will hardly notice the time it takes to get from A to B.

It is also a VERY useful defensive tool, to be able to move defending military units very quickly to many locations anywhere NEAR your Mountains. It is also very useful to move Builder and Settler Units (and other civilian units) around quickly.

I LOVE putting a Scientist that gets a bonus of 250 Research points per Mountain tile next to him when you activate him, inside a circle (hexagon) of 6 Mountain Tiles = 1500 Research Points. I used this once to finish off Industrialization and get Steam power in the same turn. I waited until I had the 3 Workshops built to get the boost from that for Industrialization, with some points left over for the next Tech to be researched after Steam Power, before I activated the Scientist.

So on the Right Places on the Right Map, it is very powerful.
