Report a translation problem
I can confirm that what you are describing does not happen with GS. So it may be a bug with the base game, or something else might be causing the problem (such as a broken mod or a damaged game file).
If you use any mods, make sure they all are intended to work with the version of the game you are playing. Remove any that are not. If that does not solve the problem, remove them all and check the game unmodded. If that still doesn't solve it then consider doing a clean reinstall, just in case a mod did not uninstall properly. Also consider a clean reinstall if you have used mods in the past, but are not now, in case one of those old mods has lingered.
If you are able to eliminate a mod as the cause then I'd report the problem to Firaxis.
Ditto. All manual on my side.
Not mods - currently don't have any installed until they get updated to work with the latest patch.
It is not only English archaeological museums that take 6 artefacts that are theming, I have also captured two cities containing ordinary archaeological museums with three slots and they are automatically theming too.
I will leave it for now as I would like to be sure it is not happening with other civs so I will start a new game soon. But I have definitely not had this in previous games playing England. Even if it is intended to happen for England I still don't like it and would prefer it not to happen or be able to stop it.
Thanks again.
England in the original game always had automatic theming.
Playing as England, any and all archaeological museums will be themed automatically when full, that includes cities you have captured, occupied or ceded after the war. Even if a non-English civilization that has built the 3-slotted museums in the cities you've taken over, it will still be automatically themed. Not sure why it didn't work for you pre-GS, but this has always been England's unique trait and museums not being themed may be a bug on the game's part.
It should
