Playing as Nubia, can't train Missionaries even though I have more than enough Faith?
This is my 5th Civ 6 game and other than difficulty and leader, all other settings are the same. I was able to create a religion but not only can I not train Missionaries, there does not seem to be any religious spread pressure. Now I am using a custom religion - are there some choices in custom religions that prevent this? While I have always used custom religions, I usually make different choices to see how they play out.

Do you have a holy site with a Shrine? Missionaries are bought with Faith in a city with a shrine. Just tossing out some possible causes for your issue.

Does the city you're trying to train them in have a Holy Site and Shrine? The buildings are required for Missionaries. A Temple for everything else.

Yes you need a Holy Site and a Shrine to train Missionaries. Also, if all your cities are converted to another religion, it is too late, your religion is extinct ! I

I actually have 3 holy sites with shrines and two with temples. I am playing in a HUGE map so no other civs I've met so far have religion - so no conversions. I know that you can't found a religion playing as Kongo, but I'm playing as Nubia and have already founded a religion - however I always do custom religions and try to emphasize either population growth or increased production. Due to the Nubian Pyramid bonuses, I decided to forego production boost and a lot of my cities are on rivers near flood plains I decided to forego food boosts for faster pop growth. I went with faith bonuses as I am trying for a religious victory this time around. I'm just wondering if one of the selections I made for my custom religion is preventing me from having the ability to buy missionaries or apostles with faith.
I've followed most of advisors recommendations in terms of the types of districts to build, and they invariably recommend either holy sites or campuses. I don't think I've build a theater or entertainment district yet. I've read a post at some other civ fan site where a guy posted that he wasn't able to train a missionary until he got his first Great Artist, but he wasn't playing a Nubia. I wonder weather I need to build a theater district now.

No you shouldnt need to do any of that. What happens when you go to the faith purchase tab in a city with your religion and holy site + shrine? Is it all empty? You should be able to see the missionary on the list and purchase it from there. If everything checks out and you still cant see any missionaries in the list, then something is definitely wrong.

Yes, this post is correct. If you have a Holy Site, a Shrine, and the city has your religion and you can't purchase religious units, please post a screenshot showing this.

There must have been some sort of glitch. I started a new game with the same settings and this time I was able to buy missionaries with faith. Dunno what happened but I noticed the game wasn't responding properly so I rebooted and started a new game. The new game is not only responding properly, but it allowed me to buy missionaries immediately after I created a new religion.
