How to / Can I request a special session of Word Congress

A nation attacked me unprovoked. I wanted to take my grievances to the World Congress so that I could use my Diplomatic Points to vote for a coalition against them. The lower right notifications said I could request a special session. When I clicked that notification nothing happened and I looked EVERYWHERE for a button... nothing in the World Congress button. Is this possible? If so where is it?

The notification you get in the right side of the screen, the end of turn messages, that's the button. Instead of right-clicking it and dismissing it, you left click it opens.

Didn't know those buttons had additional options outside of showing you where the event is if you click it. Thought congress had to be initiated via a build menu option, the district events list at the very bottom.

Perhaps different situations require different methods, even though they all end up with a special session?

be noted that the world congress is only available since medieval era?

Nope, emergency session can come earlier. I just had a call for one in classical era.

I clicked the button repeatedly and nothing happened.

Is that the ONLY way to respond and call for an Emergency Session? Seems rather limited...

When I click the button it makes a sound but nothing happens. I had a natural disaster and would've requested aid but the special session wouldn't launch.

Yeah, I managed to replicate the situation of the OP. It is as described. Hit the notification and nothing happens. So what you do is this. Top of the main menu, to the right of the leaderheads. Press that, and you are good to go. I had the option to spend 30 diplo points on calling special session to throw Jadwiga out of a city. It is when someone else has called a session the notification works. But the button mentioned is the World Congress button and will always take you to that menu, vote pending or not.

Are you guys who are having it not opening using mods? If too had a button that clicking did nothing, wasn't sure if it was one of my many mods?

Nope- no mods. Straight off the shelf for me.

To Prometheus's point - When I go into the World Congress button there is nothing there about calling a special session. Is it only during that one single turn, when they first invade, that you can call for a special session?

Yes. If you don't act the same turn, it is gone.
