Can my pc run this?
I'm interested in the game but my pc is just barely below the minimum specs. The game requires a 2.5 processor and mine is 2.3

minimum cpu - Intel Core i3 2.5 Ghz

my cpu - Intel i5-8300H 2.3GHz Quad-Core

My pc also says it has turbo boost up to 4.0GHz. Does that count towards the minimum specs?

Speed is not the most critical spec. In your case, your CPU is a quad core which has (in most situations) far greater processing power than the dual core CPU of the minimum spec.

The recommended spec is for a quad core 2.5GHz, which is only slightly faster than the CPU you have. So I would not expect a problem.

More critical is the graphics spec of your computer> Civ VI places heavy demands on graphics so you probably need to be looking at the recommended graphics spec, rather than the minimum.

Should be free to play the next day or two, you could just give it a try.

Thank you. But what about the turbo boost? Can that be taken into account when buying a new game? Or is turbo boost irrelevant in gaming

The turbo boost is pretty irrelevant. It only gives slight boosts to processing power when a bunch of criterea are met.

From the Intel website:

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.01 accelerates processor and graphics performance for peak loads, automatically allowing processor cores to run faster than the rated operating frequency if they’re operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits. Whether the processor enters into Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and the amount of time the processor spends in that state depends on the workload and operating environment.

Availability and frequency upside of Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 state depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, the following:
Type of workload
Number of active cores
Estimated current consumption
Estimated power consumption
Processor temperature

an i5 > than an i3 in almost all cases.
The i3 clocks faster, but an i5 has 2 additional cores, among other changes. Also note which generation of i3 they are referring too.

...But what GPU do you have?

I Don't really worry about my GPU as i think it's decent enough. It's a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB graphics memory

So just to clarify, anytime i find a game with an i3 requirment, my i5 should run it?

Yes, you are way over the requirement. An i3 is an entry level dual core processor. In the recommended requirements, they ask for an i5, 4th generation.

You have an 8th generation i5.

The core speed is only relevant if you are running a very old i3 laptop, with a 1.8 Ghz processor or something similar.

Ok that's great. Im looking forward to trying out all sorts of games with this new laptop. I thankfully don't have to worry about my cpu being a problem anymore.

You can try the free demo and see how it runs.
