Why is Rise and Fall so expensive?
30 bucks for this DLC is highway robbery....like other people have mentioned, we need more civs and no more than 5 bucks a piece. $4.99, 4 for $20 bucks U.S.. I'd snatch em up.

How about a Beyond Earth 2? How about it? It's long overdue.

R+F is an expansion. $30 for an expansion is a typical price.

Not forever buddy. Christmas is around the corner. For what it adds it's way overpriced.

Yep. Start a thread that basically boils down to "They should lower the price because I'm a cheap ass" and then proceed to snark the first guy who points out that it's a full size expansion and therefore reasonably priced at 30.00.

The expansion is priced well for what it brings, and since buzz hasn't played it he wouldn't know. And yes, there will no doubt be a sale soon--there always is.
On the Beyond Earth sequel question...why bother? The first one sucked hard, no point in doubling up.

R&F has been out less than a year and is already being discounted, it was on sale in the last few days at 33% off. It will get cheaper still, particularly if/when another major expansion is released.

If there is another major expansion that will likely include several new civs. I would rather the devs worked on improving the game, not dreaming up civs to add. No doubt there will be complaints about any new expansion being overpriced but the pricing of Civ VI so far has closely followed that of V and IV. So everything will gradually get cheaper and there will eventually be a complete edition at a cheap price. So anyone screaming "I want it, I want it cheap and I want it now" will just have to undergo some character development and learn to be slightly less impatient.

They basically abandoned the last one, presumably because it wasn't making enough money to justify further development. So the suits are extremely unlikely to sanction another one anytime in the forseeable.

Of course there is a connection between people shouting that a game isn't worth what is being charged, often accompanied by negative reviews, and other people being put off that game, not buying it and the game getting canned because it is not making enough to justify further development. :steammocking:

It's a piece of art and not a simple object you can buy at every corner. If you don't want to pay that much, then don't buy it and wait, until you can afford it.

And you definitely shouldn't expect Beyond Earth 2 coming soon. They propably still need to recover from the predecessor

The expansions for civ 5 had the same price. $30 is the normal price for an expansion. For the content it adds it is deffintley worth it. There is likely to be a sale near christmas.

Rise and fall doesn't add so much if you discount the stupid loyalty mechanic. What's left? Governors and that era dark age thingy. Yeah about £4.99 worth of dlc if you ask me. And then they want more for for extra cultures that should have been in the game day one.

Loyalty is a great mechanic that prevents warmongers and it is easy to prevent losing a city to loyalty if you know how. Then there is Governors to specialize cities. Golden, dark, and heroic ages. New types of alliances. The timeline to show what you have acomplished. Several types of emergencies. Several new units, wonders, districts, and resources. When you say "cultures" I'm guessing you mean civs/leaders. There are 9 new leaders. Each one is animated, has there own music theme, different abilities, units, and unique structures. It took a lot of effort to animate and design all the new features, leaders, wonders, units, districts, and resources. They need to make money somehow so why would they charge a low price for a ton of new features.

Im not understanding your math. You say R&F is too expensive yet you say you would pay $5 per civ(4 for $20). R&F brought 8 new civs to the game so by your math you would be willing to pay $40 for it but you are saying $30 is too expensive.
