Does the new Launcher enable Spy-/Adware?
To be fair, i'm slightly confused about this new launcher that was introduced with the premise of enhancing the players experience..
I've seen posts about how this launcher actually has a huge impact on the CPU and is overall not really optimized when it comes to performance and even adds advertisement before you can play the game?
I just want to be sure that i don't install anything malicous by installing this software and i think that my worries are kind of reasonable at this point.. (yes, i'm pointing at Red Shell here, as it's a proof of how non existend the developers announce / speak about these kind of new "implementations")

Please tell me that i'm wrong.. and that i don't have to worry about this at all anymore..

It wouldn´t be surprising since we know that 2k has attempted shoving spyware before and had to remove it due to outcry from the community. Many people are reporting that their anti virus softwares are blocking or flagging the launcher as malware.

Which does not mean that it actually IS malware.

Many people say many things.

Here's one: many people are reporting that when they woke up on Christmas Day last year, gifts that weren't there the night before were under their Christmas tree.

That obviously prooves that Santa Claus exists, doesn't it? Enough for me anyway.

There is currently no reason to believe it's spyware. Yes, it does push adds/latest news quite obnoxiously in your face. It isn't the first and won't be the last game/publisher that does that.
Very similar actually to Paradox launchers.

As far as I'm aware it closes after launching the game, so it cannot have a big impact on your CPU. I have no idea what happens if that doesn't happen and how it affects your system then.

You can block the file LaunchPad.exe from accessing the internet in your firewall. It was very satisfying to watch it open, attempt and fail to pull in any ads.
In Win10 go to Settings, Network and Internet, Windows Firewall, Advanced Settings, Outbound Rules, New Rule, choose Program - browse to LaunchPad.exe, and select Block the Connection.
