Is there a way to play civ 6 with gathering storm but NOT rise and fall? I bought both but i hate rise and fall
I despise the golden/dark age mechanic. total rubbish so is there a way to disable that particular expansion?

Not unless someone has modded it out.

Gathering Storm includes all the gameplay changes introduced in Rise and Fall, so it will still have the golden and dark ages.

The game runs using a combination of rulesets and modular content. The ruleset for RF contains all the rules and systems from Gathering Storm, because there are GS leaders/systems that rely on it, so it can't be shut off simply.

-> ah the old day's of boxed copy's of games.. with full user rights... and seperately sold expantion packs "require"the base game but you were free to deciede which one to install and in what order..
-> and no server rebalancing your game without you buying those expantion sets...
-> and if any extra content was released in size comparable to what we now call dlc they were FREE and on the game's website..

alas..

civ 3 can be played with either of it's 2 expantion packs.. both or none.. provided you own the old cd version of it;)

Funny, I like RF but not GS, and even bought RF separately just so I can play with RF rules only

What about in additional content/mods? the expansions are selectable in there with a disable button.... so it looks like you can turn them off. I've never tried it though.

GS utilizes systems from R+F. Disabling R+F will remove content like leaders and wonders but won't turn off any of the rules, because GS uses those.
