Would a better processor make turns go by faster?
If so would it be more cores or faster cores?

Well my pc is loading the games much faster than my old laptop and turns are not that long to but it is not just the processor I think my System rund with a lot of GB RAM and a pretty good graphic card plus the SDD is faster than the HDD too but it is all pricy If a better processor alone will do the trick I don't know It also depends what you arr working with now

I got a i7 7700 a 1060 3gb and 16 gb ram, but I might go to AMD if more cores will increase speeds of turns.

An SSD helps and it helps everything, not just Civ. Biggest boost I've seen in a long time. You're running more everything but RAM and I'll bet mime is faster in some cases. I'm not sure the AMD will give you what you're looking for.

i upgraded from a i5 4670k @ 4.6 ghz (4 cores) to a Ryzen 1700 3.7ghz (16 cores) and a m.2 960 evo ssd , and the game runs so much quicker ,
that been said once you get to the later turns game still slows down

SSD, more RAM, and DX12 seem to have made turns go by faster. Also: Map size. I don't play on maps larger than standard.

our builds aren't much different. i7 6700 gtx1060 6gb, 8gb ram, 480gb ssd and I honestly have no issues. I would say get an ssd.

If you need to get a better PC just to have normal playing speed, something's not quite right. But sure, if you think you can fix design issues with a beter PC, go right ahead.

Depends, some games use RAM alot and don't depend on the CPU. And of course your GPU has a big impact, he has plenty. His Ram sucks and it ain't his CPU, his hard drive is not up to his CPU either. And then again, some games aren't really all that damn fast to begin with, no matter what ya got :) I was trying to be polite before, I'm not now. ;p

I used to have an Uncle that liked Cadillacs. Had a new one every year. Came to a family get together one time with a brand new one and someone metioned a tire looked low. (It was my Father and he was kidding) He traded it in the following week. Sometimes people just need an excuse, but they still need validation. Fine, he liked it and I think that's just fine too.
