Is it worth to buy it for 60€??
Ive bought each Civ game until/including Civ 4....but now they want to have 60€ for a 20 year old game concept just with better graphics and a few new features?
As far as i could read here the AI is still not working very realistic/good...and "only" the Modding Community made this game much more playable (my deepest respect to them)...so with such a bad Dev output....why should i spend 60€ for this???
Arguments?

There are tons of other really good games out there for about 20€ which are also fun.
Please dont take me wrong...i love the Civ Games and im also aware that software developement is an expensive business...but again...60€ ?? Sounds for me a bit greedy to press out the last money from a very old game concept. It doesnt even have a positive review quote....

Just my two cents....so is it really worth to buy it?

No because you can buy it for a fraction of that...

If you plan to play single player, not worth it. AI is terrible and I feel Civ 5 gives a better single player experience and is much cheaper, and surprisingly similar. [I've not played any earlier Civ so I can't compare them].

If you plan to play multi-player, however, then yeah-ish, it's a great game in general it's just the AI that ruins it.

I got it in a sale for 70% off and I feel it was *just* worth it. At full price? No way. If they fixed the AI a bit (at least have it upgrade it's units!) then I'd be answering yes to the OP question.

um.. the game is nice and polished. But I think you got to have like some sort of personal attractiveness to any particular game. It's possible to play it within 600 hours and have no single multiplayer session on a record, but it's... kinda up to if it's up from your alley or not. In the end, you can always test it on the side.

Seeing that it is on sale fairly regularly, I'd say no. Wait for a sale.

AI always upgrades in my games. Are you running any mods? Still haven’t seen any anti air units though.

Im a civ fan too. I played/have them all. I waited two years for a price reduction to get civ6. I bought it last week on Fanatical, 76% off in Deluxe Digital version.

Is it worth E60? No.

Can't tell much about a game, is preaty. Nice to see Civ so preaty, that for sure. If you are a fan this is good argument to spend money. I like new mechanics too.
Cons so far: Actualy im posting here 'cos it crash to desktop, second time today.

Don't rush, wait for a price that you can afford. I still haven't played enough of civ5 and I want to go back to play older civs too.

Now I'm waiting for 70% off for Rise and Fall pack in near future.

Ultimately noone can tell you what price YOU should pay for this game to get what YOU consider to be good value. Everyone sees value differently.

For me I've had hundreds of hours of fun out of this (and pretty much every other Civ game) so I consider it excellent value for money. The only game I can think of where I feel I've had value even close to Civ V or Civ VI in the last half a decade is Skyrim.

Yes the concept of the game isn't radically different from the other Civ games, it is a new itteration not a reinvention, that said there are some really great changes in Civ VI (inc expansion) such as:

Agendas - Each leader has 1 set agenda linked to their specific character and one random agenda which is revealed through having high enough diplomatically visilibility. Whilst leader AI isn't perfect this does help replayability as leaders will respond differently to you depending on the actions of your civ.

Builders - Builders replace Workers from previous games and have limited charges. In my opinion this is a great change and allows you to manage your civilians more efficiently.

Culture & Research - You get logical boosts to specific cultural or science items based on what you have done in game so far, for example you get a huge boost to researching sailing if you've founded a city on the coast.

Districts - Districts have a huge impact on how you play the game doing a much better job of forcing you to specialise your cities and to think more strategically. Districts have ruined old Civ games for me because I just can't go back to not having them any more.

Emergencies - Emergencies are called when significant hostile events happen such as attempting to wipe out another civilisation or religion, for all those involved (or that chose to involve themselves) there are modifiers in place during the events with an often significant reward for the winning side.

Espionage - Spying has been refined and works nicely with districts forcing you to pick your targets for both 'attacking' and 'defending'.

Policy cards - Policy cards replace Social Policies from Civ V and allow you much more flexibility in terms of how you customise your civilisation and your government.

Unit groups - Stacks are managed differently, now at certain tech levels you can merge 2 or 3 units of the same time in to a group, this allows you to develop past being limited to 1 unit per hex but without them becoming stacks of doom.

Personally I find that these changes make the game feel different enough to previous titles that it feels like something new yet isn't radically different to such a degree that it doesn't feel like a Civ game any more.

I think two of the biggest issues a lot of people have had with this game (without the whole red shell thing) are:

The AI. When the game first came out the AI being poor got grouped in with the issues around warmongering with every Civ seeming to want to declare war on you and somehow you looking like the bad guy and your name being mud throughout all of time. It is much better now and there are plenty of mods which further change AI behaviour in this regard should you want. I'm not going to say the AI is great, it isn't, but honestly at this stage I don't actually think it's any worse than Civ V and on the higher difficulties I find the AI keeps me on my toes nicely.

The artstyle. So the artstyle is more 'cartoony' than Civ V. Asthetics are always going to be a personal thing, you will either like them or not. Personally I do quite like them but I've never felt the graphics to be that important for a Civ game although I was a little unsure at first because I did love how Civ V looked. I do find I can more quickly identify different terrain, resources and units in Civ VI than in Civ V so for me the artstyle isn't an issue.

I was about to buy Civ VI when it was on sale, but the RedShell fiasco I didn't bother. You know the saying "time heals all wounds" so I thought I would come back and see, but $80 Canadian? No thank you.

I don't mind paying full price if I see it's worth it too me, but after Civ IV, I wait. Civ V was a joke on release. I waited. Same for Civ VI. It seems it's just as much of a joke. At least Civ V was fixed to be one of the best games ever for me, but sadly I don't see this in Civ VI yet. Will it happen? Time will tell.

Will be back later and see how things go. See you guys later.:)

@Chris5626 Nice post but I'm preaty sure that everyone who's concider to spend that money is fully aware about mechanic changes in Civ6.

In some of my plays, I prefer to turn off all of dlcs and play a vanilla game. It's fun. Buy a base game, paly it and then when you like it wait for dlcs price drop. Don't forget there is a demo too.

Thx a lot to all of you for all your interesting points of view.
It helped me very much so i will wait for a sale then.
Meanwhile i will play on civ IV ;)

Thx again...have fun :)

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition for 68€ and R&F for 30€. I've played 240 hours so far, so i've paid 0,41 € per hour, which is not that much compared to most other AAA-Games i bought, so it definitely is worth the price for me.

But well, if you don't like the game concept anymore, then don't buy the game.

NO, buy it on HEAVY sale only.

60 pounds is like 100 American bucks, so hell to the no, do not pay that thieving price for this game. No how, no way is any PC game, any game at all worth 100 American bucks or 60 British pounds. You have Steam in Britain, of course you do. So wait for a sale. it will be on sale without a doubt. One thing I can tell you is this game NEEDS mods because it's a mess the way it is. Even with mods it's got flaws. For one thing, every AI Civ in the game at one point or another, even when you ignore them or are trading with them and you think you're buddies and everything is cool, they will denounce you for no reason what so ever and some will even declare war on you with no provocation. Especially the fat German monarch, Barbarossa. I hate that guy. The Spanish king..he's another one, Cleopatra...what a ♥♥♥♥♥! Catherine of France, there's another one. She's a wine drinking old backstabbing hag. They call you a warmonger and a tyrant just for developing your cities. Go figure the logic in that design decision if you will.

Bang it on the wishlist -- I picked this game up for £35.00 and that was the deluxe edition with all add ons. Happy Days..
I think its also about jutifying the cost of the game to yourself... A couple of nights on the rocks £60+ and night over... You pay £60.00 here and you have a game forever. I haven't played civ since civ 2 hahah when it was all 2d. I rekon Id go back to that anyday over this one hahahaha
