2+ day download time. help me.

hey so i bought this game cause its on sale, bro. but its really goin' slow and it flucuates (probably spelled that wrong) between 2 days, 3 days, 1 day, etc.

help. :(

TBH it took me overnight to download Civ VI (but it downloaded early cos I pre-ordered it). I think R&F also took several hours.

I'm in the UK using BT Broadband. The networks get saturated. So either OP i's in a sparsely pop. place like Australia or a very densely populated area with net saturation.

hey! uh problem solved!
for some reason when steam set my download region it set it to seattle (which i live 14 hrs away from) instead of denver (only 8 making it closer to me of course) and as soon as i fixed that it downloaded in about 30 minutes.

not a clue why it set it there but ♥♥♥♥ im glad i can play it now.

which also makes me wonder how many long downloads ive endured has been because of not realiziing the wrong region was set.

Oh TIL. Actually my download region was also slightly wrong. (The UK has only two FYI)

I think thery overloaded themselves with the sale days and customers.

I bought a game that was getting less than dial up speeds (getting like 18kb/s when I usually get 6.5MB/s on a normal day. Switching to different regions helped at times, I normally use San Jose, so switched to LA, then Denver, then back to San Jose when Denver started geting slow.

Once the sale is over it should return to normal download speeds, but gotta say to Valve, these slow downs even on sale events don't make me want to buy any products from you if I am going to have to wait 5 to 10 days to download them at full speed.

The distance shouldn't make that much of a difference to be honest unless it's an extreme distance, such as trans atlantic. I can generally get within 1MB give or take from either Los Angeles or from a location on the East coast.
