Doesn't really matter. I-IV are similar, V and VI are different. If you want a challange, II, if you want modern features, VI.

Civ game or Civ to play as?

(Sweet Rotisserie Chicken I'm bad at specifying) I meant the best civilization to play as for a beginner.

All the CIvs fit a different play style. The best Civ for you depends on how you play and what kind of victory you want to achieve.

Your best bet would be Rome, England, or Scythia, with all three being decent all-arounders with boosts which help either early on (like Rome and Scythia) or later on (like England). :broflex::emofdr:

Absolutely worst civ to start series from. Go for Civ4 or Civ5.

Not true

Trajan and Cleopatra are very beginner friendly as their bonuses allow you to do pretty much whatever you want.

Civ VI has a lot of features and is pretty easy to play. On the normal difficultly or below, the AI is kind of braindead, so if you can survive the barbarians, you can probably hold your own.

Thank you everyone who gave me advise.

I started on 5, and it isn't that bad after you stop getting destroyed by settler ai.

Civ 2 is by far the easiest to learn... if you can find it.

Civ 5 is easiest to learn of the "modern" Civs (Civ4-6) and is the best as long as you get the 2 expansions.

Pericles (Greece) with his free extra Wild Card (generic) Policy Slot and good culture production potential is also a good choice for beginners. He also is encouraged to be good with City States which is a good idea for new players, and is probably good at diplomacy or diplomatic relations with most/many major Civs. His military unit is good in Ancient and Classical Eras, but has a problem with ranged fire, particularly from Cities that he is besieging/attacking.

Getting that early generic Policy Slot can make getting your Pantheon Belief easier/faster, as well as getting your Great Prophet, i.e. Religion faster/easier. After that the extra generic Policy slot is ALWAYS useful for any strategy or play style for the rest of the game.

RANDOM. The best way to learn, the best way to play.
