k but about counselor, it feels like im doing a bit of everything and not choosing a path if u know what I mean, do I just ignore her ?

The counselor isn't very good. You should probably ignore it most of the time.

One thing that is very relevant in gameplay is eureka's and inspirations. Try to get any that are reasonable to get, as they vastly speed up your research. If a tech/civic has a eureka/inspiration that's reasonable for you to get, you may want to avoid researching it beyond 50%, as you'll get it as soon as you get the eureka/inspiration.

gimmethegepgun is right
this is how i play most of the times

Try to understand what's better for your civ without advices
exemple
do urgent choose when it's need, if you feel someone will attack you, make military resaearch and production. If not urgent, someting to develop your science/cultur to unlock wonder that you will absolue need in the future. and more production in the city where you will build it.

You have to know wich victory is easier, it depand of many thing, i choose by comparing my civ to the others civs moste of the times, when a ennemy civ is very high in a victory, i attack it (if i can) or i try to beat it in the same kind of victory, (both at the same time is powerfull)

dont just "play and learn". if you dont understand the game, try to find some guides to help you. if you are not aware of all/most of the mechanics in this game or know how they work then you wont be able to fully experience or enjoy this game. or worse, end up as one of those players that play with all the other functions off (religion, culture) because they dont understand them.

There are plenty of guides on steam and even more on youtube. im sure you can find guides of any length to fit your attention span and level of knowledge so far.

If you'd like i could try to help you find a really good one

this is the first vid of a 6-part series. it's a little long but explains everything. you can find a bunch of smaller tip videos though.

The basic strategy is to get a number of cities out (4-6) then develop them. After that decide what victory type you are trying for (go for a religion early if you intend to start one) and work with that in mind.

You can turn the advisor off in the menus when you open the game - have a look for a setting you can change to do this.
