Worst EVER
this is by far the worst civ franchise yet i have over 10,000 hours in civilization games (all combined) i thought 5 was bad 6 topped that majorly civ got real good starting at civ 3 play the world then 4 came out was like YEAH but then it was mediocre but then the BTS (beyond the sword) edition came out and they redeemed thierselves. then civ 5 came out and they regressed TOO SLOW of game play. then civ 6, i thought YEAH! again, but alas they regressed even morei would play civ for hours on end i cant even make it through the ancient era with out wanting to quit so slow TOO MUCH religeous JUNK no stack attacks so much micro managing its super lame 6 doesnt even allow you to play a truly custom game i like domination mode but even if you turn all the other win modes OFF you still have to micro manage all the religion and spy stuff its monotious and blows.... What did Sid Meyers get tired of it and hand the game over to corprate flunkies who never enjoyed a good civilization game???? just care about the revenues?? i know they have burnt me out of my money for both 5 and 6 will not spend another dime on CIV EVER!!!!

worst ever game for you but not necessarily for most other people. Just find another game that suits your style

The entire series (incl. offshoots SMAC/X, Colonization & Beyond Earth) is a franchise.

IMO Civ III < Civ VI < Civ IV < Civ V < Beyond Earth < SMAC/X

But that's prolly cos I like sci-fi space themed stuff. Let's be honest, history (i.e. human civilization) is boring :steammocking:

There is another Civlization franchise, the boardgame by Avalon Hill (in the US), and then its advanced verisons. Made in 1980, it is said to be an "inspiration" to Sid Meier when he created his version of the game.

Still, is Civ 6 the very worst? I'd put Colonization and Beyond Earth below any Civ game. Especially Beyond Earth. I also didn't like Alpha Centauri, but I guess some folks enjoy it.

Are you trolling? :steamfacepalm:

Check out critics reviews. E.g. -> http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sid-meiers-alpha-centauri

SMAC/X is the highest rated Civ game by almost everyone.

Beyond Earth was widely derided but unfairly so...esp. if you compare it to the train wreck that is Civ VI :steammocking:

BERT is the best MP Civ. Better than Civ Rev too,

Contrary to popular belief, having an opinion that doesn't conform to the majority belief isn't automatically a troll.

Its kind of funny because on one hand you are saying to believe the critics and to just agree with them that SMAC is a great game but at the same time you are saying That beyond earth is a good game even though the critics(and most people) say it is junk.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Remember, even critics give CoD good scores nearly every year.

I still think 1 is the best, shows my age I guess. And damn Sid Meier and I are born in the same city!!

Good grief. No, I really didn't like AC. I also like games that are pretty bad, like the new Battletech.

I found AC to be dull and it took a very long time to process turns. The border system was innovative but really didn't work very well. The unit creation scheme was just a lot of micromanagement. The writing was derivative of much better work, especially aping Frank Herbert while missing much of his theme and subtext. And I really hated the colour palette, far too garish.

But - I don't see anybody defending Colonization. So, that's the worst Civ game, then.

I don't know, I was kinda privy to Civ II. Nothing can beat Elvis as your cultural advisor.

Alpha Centauri was a good game. Maybe not the best, but entertaining enough. Way better than Beyond Earth, imo.
Personally, I enjoyed Colonization. Wasted lots of hours on it, but looking back I get to think: man, it lacked a lot of stuff and could have been so much better.

As for the OP: this is clearly not the type of game someone like you would enjoy, you should really look for other games out there. Something more "direct to business" that doesn't force people to think through so much, maybe like Heroes of Might and Magic.

The stack attack were good back in the day, but it boiled down to each Civ with one doom stack moving across squares with few terrain modifiers. Zero strategy required, just have a more powerful stack. People don’t like things they can’t grasp. Some even go so far as to call things bugs if they don’t work in their favour

English is clearly not their first language, but yes it was a bit hard to follow the post.
