Ally attacking City-State of which I am the suzerain
How? Why?

Is there a fix for this? I don't want to start a war with him but this City-State is invaluable because of it's bonuses and I've invested a lot of envoys into this particular City-State. Why can I not tell my ally to stop?

Some friends you have there. If it’s nearby, you can plant units around it forming a blockade.

Well, it was too little too late; India took over Muscat. My GPT has been cut by at least 60%. Maybe I rely on Trade City-States too much for my economy, or maybe I should defend them better. I don't know.

That's one of those mechanics this game lack that seems obvious that should be there but so far nothing. Maybe next patch...

Yeah, it could just be added to the discuss tab much like when the AI spies on you or settles too close. I hope developers took note of this and will apply it in a patch some day. It would be appreciated.

Well, I hope you at least got a Casus Belli out of it.

Should of got a Protectorate out of it

normally yes, you can get a protectorate CB, but only if you have the required civic some late (industrial I think) civic is required for it.
It's extremely annoying and it happens almost every time I play the diplomat and actually try to use the alliances mechanic. And I almost always play to gain city state suzerianty.
Just another example of a broken game.

I strategically place my military units on the borders of - or on the tiles in - the City States I am Suzerain of. My allies will not attack my units, thus I protect my City State from conquest. One can also institute a Military Levy on the City State, causing all their units to become yours, and protect it for 30 turns, as your allies will not attack your troops.

One of the features I miss most from earlier versions of Civ is the ability to ask/demand a friendly civ to END A WAR with someone (either another civ or city-state). Perhaps offer some money or resources to do so. Seems to me the game really NEEDS this kind of mechanism.

This works very well. And if my tech is ahead of the attacker, once I do this I can upgrade the protectorates units so that the attacker doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.

Allies attacking city-states that you are suzerain of is something that has needed to be fixed for a long time now. We can always hope something will be done to fix it, but don't hold your breath......
