So the AI chooses this first 100% of the time, literally...

Before the expansion I think it was Missionary Zeal chosen at about the same rate.. Does beta testing not show this kind of stuff?

I generally go for religion pretty early in almost all games (except Kongo, ofc) and unless I'm the first one to a Pantheon, this is always gone... In fact, when the expansion first came out, I played like 7-8 games where I didn't notice it was an option until I was bored and went looking through all the other players religions.

I dunno, it just seems immersion breaking to me.. surrounded by average appeal lands? sure i'll get the bonus for charming or better appeal... Seems logical that, through beta testing, when the AI does something at a 100% clip, you might take notice...

Does not help that they cheat with artifical bonus's right form the start. I go for religion if I have an advantage at the first few turns in doing so but have not seen this one despite getting a patheon in epic speed as early as around the 10th turn. AI has been improved a little here and there combined with its cheating its no surprise you don't usually see this.

Yeah, stuff like this seems a little immersion breaking. Maybe i should make a map with no tiles having better than average appeal and see what the AI chooses then..

It helps if you got religional relic early on but that's entirely RNG

YAY RNG! Like how when I close down Civ 6, if i've been playing for more than a couple hours, Civ will either have a crash report to send in, or will system fail my computer and i have to restart my PC.
