Spaceport sabotage
Has anyone ever had an AI player repair a spaceport after you've sabotaged it (either through warfare or espionage)? Just curious... I've never seen that happen, even with plenty of turns left in the game. I find I can buff up one spy with Disguise, Linguist, and Rocket Scientist promotions and basically ensure myself a tech victory, even if I'm behind on research. Having another at home with Quartermaster virtually guarantees the offensive spy never gets caught.

I never thought it worked that way. So if I drop a nuke near a spaceport the AI wont repair it?

Similar, I thought all the spies did was reset the spaceport progress to zero. Are you sure they sabotage it into being useless?

Yep, it's useless until repair, just as if it had been pillaged. You can mouse over it to see the status. You can also see the halted progress in Victory Conditions.

You can see that status even if you've lost full visibility to the hex (e.g. when your spy leaves to another city). I'll periodically rotate a spy back into that city to get full visibility to the hex with the spaceport, but it never loses the (Pillaged) indicator.

yes they can repair but spaceports take longer and they adont prioritize it if they dont have parts to build

I had a notable recent game where Gilgamesh was ahead of me by about 5 techs, and he had beelined to the techs that allow space flight. He prioritized it enough to put resources into building 7 space ports. I disabled every single one of them and he was content to do other things while I ramped up my space program and beat him to the tech victory. It just seems odd to me that they will prioritize getting them, but don't seem to care about keeping them operational.

That particular game I mentioned above was king mode with standard rules and continents... YMMV on other modes /settings.

Yeah I have never seen them do such. It probably is somewhat similar if you pillage lots of tiles during a war. The AI seems to repair little and carry on its merry way with the damage you caused. :emofdr:

I even had Australia lose its last city to barbarians after I had weakened it.
I was planning on razing it anyway, so no warmongering penalty for me.

Thanks, I actually managed to sabotage it and I guess it stayed broken, but my spy got killed in the process (so with lack of visibility how do I know for sure). The other CIV' spaceports hadnt put a man on the moon yet, so they were no threat.

Getting your spies leveled up beforehand helps a lot. With new spies, I always do “Gain Sources”, then “Siphon Funds”, because that gives the best chance of success. Just repeat that until they’ve gotten all possible promotions. I usually leave one at home to counterspy with “Quartermaster” and that adds a boost to all my offensive spies.

I've seen that, they didn't repair, BUT they did build one on another city
