I think it depends on how long you set it. There are different speed options that determine the number of turns.

Depend a lot on the player too. Some people play a match in 5 hours, others take 50 hours.

I believe you can also disable the score victory/turn limit.

it lasts as long you want it to last.... except in multiplayer with randoms which usually end inbetween 30-100 rounds because everyone just quitted once they get attacked (say thanks to steam because this became common but never or just rarely happened during the gamespy period because everything was public, even lobbies, so everyone knew your name once you quitted).

Normal speed 500 turns, Epic 750 turns, Marathon 1500 turns. You can turn off time victory and play as long as you want (or you can just "one more turn").
