My question is... What kind of saint are you in this game? The AI loves denouncing me XD, even when I've done nothing but turtle. At some point in the game everyone just denounces me.

My husband and I have gotten to the point where we start nicknaming certain civ leaders things like "grumpypants", "sadface", "happydance", "stuffy-shirt", "puffy-chest", "wind-bag", etc., especially, when the threats, jeers, insults, etc. start coming our way. Anyone remember the "Moondoor" from Game of Thrones, or the Pit from The 300? We role-play tossing these people and their emissaries bringing bad news through the Moondoor/Pit. Who says you can't role-play the Civ series?

I will probably feel the same if surrounded by annoying ones like Cyrus and Trajan,but you may probably not violate most AIs' inherent agenda in the early game.Sending delegations,opening borders,and trading with them are more than enough to make them friendly to you,providing they don't have an agenda like Standing Armies.Besides,Laurier seems to tolerate a lot.I have never seen him denounce anyone in all games.

I haven’t been denounced for that yet. Playing standard size map on immortal, I usually ally 4 of the 6 players. Because I avoid breaking allies, I have to resort to other means like spies to keep their progress in check

Denounced? What does that mean.. oh right, the ai wants to trade with you next turn, but if they denounce you first.. they offer lower prices.

However they may not usually denounce you.. as just outright goto war with you.

Yeah,Laurier sometimes declares war through others' denouncement,just as he won't try to keep the peace if you denounce them first.However,at least I've never seen he himself denounce someone else,and I like it when he is my neighbor and I just want to achieve a science or culture victory peacefully,even if he is unfriendly throughout the game.
