I Would go with Complete Edition with Civ 5, just the base game of Civ 5 gets boring.
I mean for the price right now, I would get Civ 6 Gold, then later on hope for a better sale for Civ 5 Complete, either on Steam or somewhere else. I think Amazon has Civ 5 Complete cheap and I believe it might be a Steam code.
Civ 6 bad reviews were mostly from Redshell software and some from release. I take these Steam review with a grain of salt. People use these Reviews as outlets to ♥♥♥♥♥ about anything and not use them for honest reviews.
I like Civ 6 a lot, it has become a really great game with the Two Expansion and the updates. I mean Civ 5 got bad reviews on release but became a good game. I honestly like both games in their own right. I don't like comparing the two. I love both in their own ways. They are two children I love equally, even though they come from the same parents.
All legit codes for Civ are steam keys no matter where you buy it, so you're correct.
Also agree with pretty much the rest too. Civ 5 is only really good if you buy complete (the base game is pretty bad), but for some reason it's going for $30 now instead of the $10-$15 it used to. IMO not really worth it when you can get most of Civ 6 for the same price. I haven't gone back to 5 since getting 6.
I personally think it's 100% worth it to go for 6 "gold edition" ($30) and then "gathering storm" (another $30) to get the full thing if you're willing to spend a little bit more.
If you want 5 I'd definitely look around for getting the complete a bit cheaper. It was a great game but getting a bit old now imo. Just not worth so much anymore.
Yeah that is weird its not on sale. But I feel they did that so people would be more inclined to buy Civ 6.
Complete, mind you. Without all the expansions and such V's also not great.
That said, you have to do some (very minor, from memory) fiddling with V to get the actual Civ V launcher (that actually Works), not the add-riddled 'BUY CIV VI' garbage (which often flat out Doesn't work, among other issues) that they replaced it with.
