Is this game computer intensive?

My machine is old. I'm just looking for a beer and pretzels game to mess around with. Not trying to take out a loan for a computer, or lock myself in a room to play. My system is:

AMD FX-4300 Quad Core 3.8GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD, 24X DVD, NVIDIA GT 720 1GB, Windows 10

This is my specs, runs the game ok, late game things slow down a little.
CPU: AMD FX-8320 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition (3.5GHZ)
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970
Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (16GB)
OS: Windows 7 X64
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 950 FTW (2GB Memory)
Main Drive: Western Digital Black Edition (1TB)
Monitor: Acer 1920X1080 (60HZ)

I would say Civ 5 Complete would run better on your system. Civ 6 needs more cpu and gpu power.

Your machine is newer and faster than mine and mine runs it fine. The big delay is the world gen. I have time to use the bathroom, grab a fresh one and when I get back the game is ready.

My system is far inferior to your own and though it's not perfect, I can run the game with little issue. Just make sure your GPU will run DX11 and I don't see it being a problem.

There is a view mode, just part of the game, where the game looks like an actual board game. The graphics are simple tokens, clear, and there is no effect at all. It reduces the workload a lot, at least visually

The game isn't actually graphically intensive. It barely uses my GPU at all. I think the bottleneck comes from the AI trying to figure out one unit per tile.
