Civ 6 freezes before animation starts for meeting new leaders

so this has happened 3 times so far. Every time i am about to meet another leader in the game the game locks up. I can still move my screen around but none of the info is on the screen. No mini map, no hud at all. I have turned off the animation for the other leaders but that did not do anything to help.
what can i do?? Is there a way to fix this bug?? By the way i have never had that issue before until now.

Check if you have enabled mod: ' Better leader icon '. If so, turn it off and it should work. For me, disabling helped me\/me working.

Final Edit: I solved it! Complete uninstall, deletion of remaining game folders in the Steam directory (Program files (x86)) and then complete reinstall fixed the issue for me. I finally got the intro-scene to play and can continue my game.

I have the same problem: game won't load introduction to new civ. It doesn't crash, per se, it's just stuck in the UI-free map view you get before an interaction with another leader happens. Tried on dx 11 and 12. No mods installed. I only own the base game, none of the add-ons.

Edit for additional infos:
Win 10 64-bit running on Ryzen 7 1700 3.00 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Radeon RX 480 (newest drivers)
Steps I tried so far: Trying with different DirectX Settings, changing display settings, verifying the installation - 3 files were unverified and got redownloaded.
Non of these had any effect, the bug persists.

I am currently trying a complete reinstall after manually removing all game folders and clearing the download cache. - This worked!

Just wanted to add that disabling the "Better leader icon" mod also fixed this issue for me.
