I dont see how this game looks anymore 'cartoony' than lets say, XCOM.
He seems to think the fact that they ported to a mobile platform means Civ VI was a mobile game all along, which he feels that validate the comparison that people make between Civ VI "graphics" (they mean art style but they can't tell the difference) and mobile games.
Well, having watched the trailer for the iOS version, I can say that the graphics there (and yes, the actualy graphics quality, not the art style) are much worse than the PC version: chunky resolution, less textures, everything's blocky because of it. That is mobile graphics quality. Civ VI on a desktop looks so much better.
Also, is the resolution based off the lowest common denominator of ipads? I looks like 1024x762. :P Seems dark and pixely. Will this change?
Now, my initial speculation is mostly on the mobile processors, well, they're mobile tablets, they're not that good for games like this. How is it? I imagine long turns especially late game when you have met everyone and everyone is at war etc. I personally foresee crashing left and right at that point, idk.
I have an Ipad Air 2 if that helps.
Anyways, what do you guys think/know?
Let me know.
Cheers! :D

Unlimited Turns
Determining WIn Conditions
The game will lag with many Civs even with a decent computer, it's the Civ way.
However, please be aware that the Mac version is getting further and further behind the Windows version, and any fixes will take a long time to come, and DLC's and expansions will take an even longer time to come. You will be buying the worst version of the game. Get it on Windows, or get Civ 5.
I also don't like how they hide the price of the game by making it free as a demo but then having the purchase price as an in-game purchase.
I kind of like that approach. It lets you try out games to a degree without ponying up the money first. The bad thing about it is that you can't get a refund this way. If it's a upfront payment (not an in-app purchase), Apple will usually let you refund within a few weeks' time. They don't broadcast this, and maybe it only works in Europe, but they are very accommodating.
Anyway, I think it's nice that tablets are getting closer to being able to run larger PC games now, and it's good that they are making the game available to people who want to play it on a mobile device.
The demo only lets you play as china with set game parameters
Once you purchase the full version you get the 'normal' options you expect. You create a single player game, select advanced options and get all the options you expect when creating a custom game.
And yes there is an option for "Limit Turns" that has "No Turn Limit" "By Game Speed" "Custom" so that should work for you.
Note the game only supports ipad air 2 and above which is higher than the 1024x762. Ipad minis arent supported.
There is also a hack to enable retina display for ipad pros for the game (though this makes the ipad fairly hot according to reports)
Its 100% civ6 as you know it, just on an ipad. If you like civ6, then you're probably gonna never see the day of light until 2019.
I've played a few full games on it and havent' seen any slowdowns to be honest. I think it crashed like once, but restarting it worked fine.
Same here.
Pretty much insta-buy for me and it works pretty much as advertised.
