Sid Meier's Civilization VI

Sid Meier's Civilization VI

İstatistiklere Bak:
CivVI released on IPad - the full experience on a tablet
Today, CivVI got released on the iPad - though not just any iPad. According to Aspyr's blog post announcing it - https://blog.aspyr.com/2017/12/21/take-one-turn-civilization-vi-available-today-ipad/ - it "requires iOS 11 on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or any iPad Pro". So this takes some meat to run. The full base game is included, but no DLC or the upcoming expansion.

A limited time discount has it at $29.99 (which I believe matches the Steam Sale) price, and after that it will be at $59.99, the same as the regular PC price.

Finally we know!!
It has been said a thousand times that the graphics looked like a moble game. Now today I see a thing on facebook saying civ 6 released for IOS. I did a quick search of web and a polygon site already has a review up on it. I think I believe it myself. At least 90% sure I do anyway. Going to check some more on it but expected to see something here on it and don't.
What do we know?
so if the graphics were set in a different style, it wouldnt/couldnt be an ios game? I guess legend of zelda: windwaker is an ios game too.

I dont see how this game looks anymore 'cartoony' than lets say, XCOM.

He seems to think the fact that they ported to a mobile platform means Civ VI was a mobile game all along, which he feels that validate the comparison that people make between Civ VI "graphics" (they mean art style but they can't tell the difference) and mobile games.

Well, having watched the trailer for the iOS version, I can say that the graphics there (and yes, the actualy graphics quality, not the art style) are much worse than the PC version: chunky resolution, less textures, everything's blocky because of it. That is mobile graphics quality. Civ VI on a desktop looks so much better.
Anyone play the IOS version yet? How is it?
I am considering getting it. I got the demo (first 60 turns) but it only has 'play now' and you play as China. I know that is unlocked when you purchase. But does it have other things like Advanced settings for determining win conditions, and, (this is a big one) ability to turn off turn limit? I always love to play long games.

Also, is the resolution based off the lowest common denominator of ipads? I looks like 1024x762. :P Seems dark and pixely. Will this change?

Now, my initial speculation is mostly on the mobile processors, well, they're mobile tablets, they're not that good for games like this. How is it? I imagine long turns especially late game when you have met everyone and everyone is at war etc. I personally foresee crashing left and right at that point, idk.

I have an Ipad Air 2 if that helps.

Anyways, what do you guys think/know?

Let me know.

Cheers! :D

I cannot speak for the iPad version; but the full game does indeed have the following:

Unlimited Turns

Determining WIn Conditions

The game will lag with many Civs even with a decent computer, it's the Civ way.

However, please be aware that the Mac version is getting further and further behind the Windows version, and any fixes will take a long time to come, and DLC's and expansions will take an even longer time to come. You will be buying the worst version of the game. Get it on Windows, or get Civ 5.

It's 100% the same as the vanilla version of CIV6@pc. You have all the options for victory conditions, etc, and aztec dlc as well, so we might get the further dlcs/expansions as well. Performance is ok on my ipad pro, but gfx way away from 4k@ultra what i got on my desktop pc, still its fine imo. Best thing happened this year is this civ6 release on ipad. :)
I tried to purchase after the 60 turns were up, and it didn't do anything. I was expecting a payment screen. But it just lit up when i pressed the green button and nothing happened.
What are the turn times like on a standard map? Also, can you install the mods you would use on the pc version from civfanatics or steam?
Not paying for this game twice, especially considering how MAC/Linux users are treated in regards to cross-platform play. Nice try though.
It's not really "the full experience" if you use strategic view because the ipad version doesn't have it.

I also don't like how they hide the price of the game by making it free as a demo but then having the purchase price as an in-game purchase.
$60 (when the sale ends) is pricey for a game by iOS standards. It's not unheard of for non-game apps, but for a game it's unusual. It'll be interesting to see if the market is willing to pay PC-level prices for new releases.

I kind of like that approach. It lets you try out games to a degree without ponying up the money first. The bad thing about it is that you can't get a refund this way. If it's a upfront payment (not an in-app purchase), Apple will usually let you refund within a few weeks' time. They don't broadcast this, and maybe it only works in Europe, but they are very accommodating.

Anyway, I think it's nice that tablets are getting closer to being able to run larger PC games now, and it's good that they are making the game available to people who want to play it on a mobile device.

I like that you can try it before you buy it but they could have had a demo version and a full version with a price tag.

The demo only lets you play as china with set game parameters

Once you purchase the full version you get the 'normal' options you expect. You create a single player game, select advanced options and get all the options you expect when creating a custom game.

And yes there is an option for "Limit Turns" that has "No Turn Limit" "By Game Speed" "Custom" so that should work for you.

Also, is the resolution based off the lowest common denominator of ipads? I looks like 1024x762. :P Seems dark and pixely. Will this change?

Note the game only supports ipad air 2 and above which is higher than the 1024x762. Ipad minis arent supported.

There is also a hack to enable retina display for ipad pros for the game (though this makes the ipad fairly hot according to reports)

How is it?

Its 100% civ6 as you know it, just on an ipad. If you like civ6, then you're probably gonna never see the day of light until 2019.

I imagine long turns especially late game when you have met everyone and everyone is at war etc. I personally foresee crashing left and right at that point, idk.

I've played a few full games on it and havent' seen any slowdowns to be honest. I think it crashed like once, but restarting it worked fine.

I have an Ipad Air 2 if that helps.

Same here.

Anyways, what do you guys think/know?

Pretty much insta-buy for me and it works pretty much as advertised.
