How do you clear nuclear contamination?
Hi !!

There's this achievement where we need to clear nuclear contamination with a Roman Legion. So first of all, it means I have to fortify a Legion unit for the entire game until I get into the Nuclear era, but the main question is... how do you clear the contamination itself? Is there a special button that will appear? Won't the unit die if it's right on the contaminated hex?

I need help understanding that mechanic.

Thanks!!

Time is not an issue.

I get that nuclear will decrease over time and eventually will disappear on its own. So what's the link with Roman Legion?

Roman Legions can perform certain tasks that military engineers can do, such as build roads and forts (they get 1 charge). If you still have one around and move him onto nuclear contamination, he can clear it as that is another task they can do, yes a button will appear. Ending your turn in contamination takes 50% of your health, I believe, so either move the unit in such a way that they can do the job before ending the turn, or at least make sure not to forget on the next turn. The cleaning itself is instantaneous as with other builder/engineer tasks in Civ 6.

Did your legion still have it's one charge? If you used that charge already it can't remove the contamination

If I created roman fort I would not be able clean contamination?

Correct. Your legions only have one action. So if you build a fort, a road, or chop anything you can't clear contamination with that unit
