Aircraft Carrier Armada holds 2 fighters?
Just created 2 carrier armadas via the Venetian Arsenal. It looks like my Armadas can only carry 2 fighters as a standard carrier can. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Your carriers need to earn promotions to carry more fighters

The armadas have 3 carriers each and can only hold 2 jets? Doesnt sound right, thats all =D

it is the new math.

2 * 1 = 2
2 * 2 = 2
2 * 3 = 2

They are easy to level up because they can actually perform a melee attack.

In Civ 5 they had to be used as bait to level up. Which was ludicrous.

It's not hard to get their capacity up.

afaik it says in the civilopedia that the only efffect of armadas/fleets is that their attack value is increased. they don't count astwo ir three vessels. it is one vessel with higher attack value. so two jets should be correct.

it doesn not seem to make sense to build fleets/armadas with carriers, only regular offensive units.

Unless I'm mistaken, they also get a better defence value.

you have to mod it. Civfanatic.com their a mod to adjust that.

Playing Civ5 and now 6, a lot, I have never had a carrier get promoted. How could it since it can't attack and if it gets hit it about a 95% sink rate.

It basically means that there's less value in fleets and armadas for carriers than other ships. Personally, I would consider increasing the capacity with the merges, but not linearly. Just +1 for each merge.

Wait, how the hell do you make an aircraft carrier armada? I built the Venetian Arsenal for the same purpose. I get two aircraft carriers together, neither have planes on them, both in my own territory, both full health. There is nothing that could possibly go wrong, and yet, it won't let me form an aircraft carrier fleet. Wtf? Is this a bug? Other naval units can form fleets like that, but aircraft carriers can't? Can you only produce aircraft carrier fleets/armadas through building the fleet/armada version in city with a sea port?

Given that this thread is from January, it's possible that they removed the ability to merge them in a patch. This would make sense as merging them was never very worthwhile.

You can still make fleets and armadas out of carriers. You need nationalism to make fleets, and mobilization to make armadas. If you want to build them in that form you need a seaport. They also don't need to be in your territory or at full health. If you join a damaged ship with a full health ship they will take the average health.
Btw merging them is worthwhile as it increases the units strength which is vitial for defending it vs attacks. I also use carriers to finish off damaged units and captured cities to level them up

Merging them into 3 is very realistic, but they shold have 3 times the aricraft. In real life a carrier task force is made of with 3 carriers and all the compliment ships. That is our current combined arms strategy for wartime and has been for decades. It's really stupis that after more than a year this has not been adressed. Then again I never really need them in this game. A few battleships and simply take all the coastal cities then reposition aircraft.

BladeSe7en, so you can only make aircraft carrier fleets and armadas by building them whole? You can't merge two normal ones? That really sucks because in my current game, I had 2 aircraft carriers that were in service, and I had just finished building 3 new normal aircraft carriers to make an armada with one of them. What a waste.
